Kenya’s 1st polygamy conference draws near

Kenya is set to host the first ever women delegates Islamic polygamy conference, which will be held on October 29, 2023, at the Emara Ole Sereni along Mombasa Road. The conference is open to anyone who is polygamous, wants to understand the concept of polygamy, or is hoping to join the space.

The organizers of the conference, who include 9 hijabis and one man, say that they want to create a space for open dialogue and understanding around polygamy. They believe that polygamy is a part of rich human history and that it is time to discuss it openly without fear or stigma.

The organizers also say that they want to celebrate love in all its forms and that they believe polygamy can be a choice made out of love, respect, and mutual consent.

The man in the video points out that his understanding of polygamy is “not about a man having many wives but about every woman having a husband.”

The organizers are expecting attendance from the whole region of East Africa.

The conference is a significant step forward in the open discussion of polygamy in Kenya. It is an opportunity for people to learn more about polygamy, to connect with others who share their experiences, and to celebrate love in all its forms.
