Lessons from a broken marriage that former Inooro TV presenter Winrose Wangui learned

Former Inooro TV presenter Winrose Wangui has shared some of the insights she gained from her short-lived marriage, which lasted only 59 days.

In an interview with Wambui Wa Mwangi, the talented presenter expressed her regrets about not having the strength to say no to things that didn’t align with her values.

“There were numerous red flags. We argued frequently, but because both of us were churchgoers, we were concerned about public perception. I didn’t have the courage to say no,” she admitted.

“I’ve since learned that if you can’t say no, things will inevitably go awry. You shouldn’t feel pressured to conform to societal norms like extravagant weddings; instead, focus on the right timing and partner.”

Reflecting further, Winrose added, “Marrying the wrong person can turn your life into a living hell. Despite undergoing pre-marital counseling, it was ineffective as it lacked depth. I was too trusting, but now I speak up when necessary.”

Recalling her departure from the marriage, Winrose revealed, “When I left, I only took my car and clothes. I stayed with a friend briefly before renting my own place. During most of my first pregnancy, I slept on the floor. Despite my public image as a TV personality, internally, I was struggling.”

She took out a small loan and furnished her home when she was around 8 months pregnant.

Subsequently, Winrose returned to school to study Counseling Psychology, determined to transform her experiences into a positive impact on others.
