Mama Oliech finally to be laid to rest after family resolves wrangle

On Tuesday 7th August 2018, the family of the late Mama Mary Auma aka Mama Oliech  placed two conflicting obituaries for the deceased.

It was clear the family was split over burial date; the two obituaries indicated different dates when Mama Oliech was to be buried and were published on page 45 and 46 0f Daily Nation.

Conflict solved

Mama Oliech’s eldest son Nickson Onywanda has come out to clear the air on the family tussle which threatened to delay the burial.

Onywanda confirmed that there were disagreements in burial dates but asserts that the family has since solved the issue and agreed to bury the deceased on on 11th August.

“Yes it is true there were differences in burial dates, but it all comes to one thing that she is our mother. One group wanted one date for their own reasons the other date also for different reasons. There was no unanimous decision on when to lay to rest our mother.

“So, one group placed an advert on the paper and the other followed suit. I cannot stop anyone from doing it. I understand why there is confusion but we as the family sat down with the elders and ironed out issues. They stated that a decision will be ultimately made by the eldest son, which is me. I chose 11th where the majority had decided,” said Nickson Onywanda in an interview with SDE.
