Nyashinski has been quiet but we are not worried

I noticed that it’s been four whole months (without counting collabos) since we heard from Kenyan rapper Nyamari Ongengu, alias Nyashisnki. However, I am not worried at all since the guy is in his own league.

Nyash, as he’s popularly known needs no introduction, he really doesn’t. After staying in the US for almost a decade, he came back and outshone people whom he had left in the industry. So, what is four months, seriously?

In my opinion, the Now You Know hitmaker is a creative genius. The way I see it, he might have taken time off to analyze the industry. I have a feeling that his next song will be really big, much bigger than Mungu Pekee.

Truth is, the new crop of Kenyan artists are giving everyone, especially established artists a headache. Not only are they making songs that garner millions of views in a few days, they are always in studio making the next hit i.e. they don’t take time off.

Nyashisnki

If you are an artist, even if you are the greatest of all time like Nyashisnki, you have to calculate your moves well to survive in this industry because, let’s be honest, it’s very hard to keep up with these youngins.

Perhaps this explains why we’ve not heard from Nyash for sometime now (yes I am aware Marathon Runner was released in March) but when you hear from Nyashisnki you know it case in point is Mungu Pekee – a song that sent shockwaves across the industry.

Like I said, I suspect he’s studying the industry throughly because he can’t bow to pressure and to the kind of music our new-age artists are releasing. When the time is right, he will drop a song that will shake the industry and yes, it will be good music.

Watch his latest single dubbed Marathon Runner below.
