Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has said that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will not give Langata Member of Parliament (MP) Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o a ticket to run for re-election in 2027, even if he wins a court case challenging his expulsion from the party.

Sifuna, who is also the ODM Secretary-General, said that the party has already started the process of expelling Jalang’o and that the matter is now before the party’s National Governing Council (NGC).

“We have started early and we are already done with the disciplinary committee, recommendations have already been submitted to NEC,” Sifuna said.

“The fact that our court system is not working does not mean that we as a party will not take any action. We will do what we are able to do. It does not matter how long it will take but we must do what the law allows us to do,” he stated.

Sifuna said that Jalang’o lost his chance to be a competitive contender for the Langata parliamentary seat when he was expelled from the party.

“He lost his potential to secure a second term following his expulsion from the party,” Sifuna said.

Jalang’o was expelled from ODM in February 2023 after he was found guilty of violating the party’s constitution. He has since challenged his expulsion in court.
