Police Officer Shoots 15-Year-Old Boy in Ngong Town

A 15-year-old boy was shot by a police officer in Ngong Town, Kajiado County, while the officer was trying to stop a mob from lynching a suspect.

According to witnesses, the suspect had been chased and cornered by a mob after he allegedly stabbed another man in Mathare area of the town. The suspect tried to escape, and the mob attacked him with stones and sticks.

A police officer on patrol intervened to save the suspect and fired one round from his AK47 rifle. The bullet hit the 15-year-old boy, flooring him as the mob dispersed.

The suspect, the boy, and the stabbing victim were taken to the hospital. The suspect was treated and discharged, while the boy and the stabbing victim were referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further treatment.

The police officer was disarmed and arrested. Police said they plan to charge him in court over the shooting.

Man Shot in Lowangila Area

Police in Meru are investigating the shooting of a man in Lowangila area.

Police who were on patrol heard a gunshot and went to check the scene. They found that one David Changi Ngala, aged 20, had been shot in the left knee by an unknown gang armed with rifles while opening the door of his house.

Ngala was taken to Isiolo County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in fair condition.

The motive of the shooting is not known. Police say they have intensified operations in the area, which is prone to cattle rustlers’ attacks.
