The husband of Radio Africa presenter Riya Sharma was shot dead by police on Sunday October 22nd. Bunty Shah was killed in his bedroom when he was peeping through the window to see what was happening.

The deceased’s window announced that her husband’s body would be cremated on Wednesday. Riya Sharma was still reeling from the pain of losing her husband in such a crude way.

12 police officers under investigation

Meanwhile 12 police officers have been singled out for investigation over the killing of Bunty Shah. The 12 officers led the botched police operation that resulted to the death of Bobmill mattress tycoon. The police officers were ordered to surrender their guns for examination by close of business Monday.

The National Police Service (NPS) explained that someone was shooting at officers during the operation. NPS says police returned fire and mistakenly shot Bunty Shah who was caught in the exchange.

NPS further explains that police carried out the operation after receiving a tip that individuals were plotting multiple attacks in Nairobi using weapons stocked in an unoccupied house on Peponi Road.

This explanation however didn’t satisfy the Shah family. They demanded to know why police officers fled the scene after shooting their kin even before establishing if the people they were looking for were around.
