Raila Odinga Spotted Using A Matatu To Work

Opposition leader Raila Odinga rode public transportation to work on Monday, July 10, in protest of the soaring fuel prices.

Seated among the passengers, Odinga engaged in conversations with other commuters about the high cost of living and the government’s decision to increase VAT tax from 8% to 16%.

Odinga has been urging Kenyans to boycott fuel and adopt alternative modes of transportation, such as walking to work, carpooling, and reducing non-essential travel.

He believes that by doing so, citizens can decrease their reliance on fuel and limit the government’s ability to collect additional tax revenue.

Odinga has also been encouraging Kenyans to express their dissatisfaction with the government through peaceful protests.

“We must show the government that we are not happy with the way they are handling the economy,” he said. “We must let them know that we will not accept these high fuel prices.”

Odinga’s decision to ride public transportation is a symbolic gesture of his support for ordinary Kenyans who are struggling to make ends meet. It is also a reminder that the government must be held accountable for its policies.

It remains to be seen whether Odinga’s call for a boycott will be successful. However, his actions have certainly put the government on notice and sparked a national conversation about the high cost of living.
