“Sweetie you wouldn’t know immoral if it crawled up your leg” Mavuno church pastor slams lady complaining about dirty sex talk in church

Mavuno Church has decided to talk about crude bedroom affairs during Sunday sermons and Kenyans on social media can’t take it anymore.

Kenyans were dumfounded when they discovered that uncensored sex talks have become part of Sunday sermons at Mavuno church in Nairobi.

“Today we start a brand new series #Uncensored where we shall be exploring the myths of love, sex and dating and the Biblical response to this cultural dilemma,” Mavuno Church announced on social media.

Mavuno church pastor slammed a certain lady who faced up to him about his tweet which she said had nothing to do with Biblical teachings.

The church also sparked uproar on twitter after they tweeted saying that if sex was only physical then rape victims and abused children would easily be able to move on from their abuse.

What followed next after the public anger was a social media statement by Mavuno church offering explanation about their controversial sex talk.

This month we have been going through a Sermon series titled Uncensored: God’s text on Sex and Dating. Our objective is to help especially those who are single and dating and desire to enter marriage, to have successful long-lasting relationships. Also to help those who are married resolve some of the barriers to a great relationship! The reality is that, we live in an era where we are surrounded by few positive examples when it comes to dating and marriage. The topics we are covering include; what kind of persons you should be in the relationship you desire? How should men treat women? What is Sex and how was it designed? And what does it mean to be in a relationship?

During the course of one of the messages, some tweets that were posted by our media team who were following the message that could easily be taken out of context if read individually. The bigger conversation was that sex is a gift to us from God designed to express and deepen intimacy and unity with the context of marriage, it is not just a physical action! Our sexuality affects us at the deeper level imaginable and if we treat is just physical, it results in much hurt to ourselves and others. Anything that touches on our sexuality has the potential to injure us deeply, hence the speaker gave the example, that if sex was only physical, then rape victims and abused children would easily be able to move on from their abuse. However, that is never the case. Most victims of these evils carry the pain and consequences for a long time, because our sexuality does affect us at the deepest level imaginable. This is why sex cannot just be treated as casual and physical, it runs much deeper. The point being made was that we need to be careful, how we treat our sexuality, how we treat others and most importantly how we honour God with sexuality.

It is possible that those reading the tweets in isolation have thought we were equating sex with rape or with the abuse of minors. But that is the farthest thing from the truth! Indeed as a church, we often counsel and care for people who have struggled to overcome these social evils with the firm belief that God is able to restore and bring healing.

We would like to apologize to anyone who may have read the tweet and felt hurt or offended by them. We would also like to extend an invitation for you to come and listen to the sermons in their entirely or to listen to them online on our Facebook page.

Prayers and hope in addressing this topic is that it opens up a bigger conversation in our society that helps us raise a generation that honors God with their sexuality.

Regards,

Mavuno Church
