Chebet Ronoh Shares Harrowing Experience Of Being Arrested

Caroline Ronoh, a 25-year-old law student, was arrested on Saturday night while walking home from a friend’s house. She said that she was at the right place at the wrong time and that she was arrested simply because she was a woman.

“I was walking home from a friend’s house when I was stopped by two police officers,” Ronoh said. “They asked me for my ID and when I showed it to them, they told me that I was under arrest.”

Ronoh said that she was handcuffed and taken to a police station. She said that she was not told why she was being arrested and that she was not allowed to make a phone call.

“I was kept in a cell with other women,” Ronoh said. “The cell was cold and dirty and there was no running water. We had to sleep on the floor.”

Ronoh said that she was released from jail after 11 hours. She said that she was never charged with any crime.

“I am still traumatized by what happened,” Ronoh added. “I don’t know why I was arrested and I don’t know why I was kept in jail for so long. I just want to forget about this experience.”

Ronoh’s story is a reminder of the dangers that women face in Nairobi. She is not the first woman to be arrested simply for being a woman. In recent years, there have been a number of cases of women being arrested and detained for no reason.

This is a serious problem that needs to be addressed. The police need to be held accountable for their actions and women need to be protected from harassment and abuse.

Chebet Ronoh is in the gym and her life has changed!

Chebet Ronoh has started hitting the gym and we have to say, we love the changes we have seen her achieve. She was always a chonk who had drank the Koolaid about being sexy at every size but she has finally woken up from the bullshit dream and we love to see it.

And for most feminists, the benefits of hitting the gym translate into the feeble-minded argument of women wanting to conform to “unattainable beauty standards” but we aren’t such simple-minded troglodytes here, we are thinking beings.

She had previously taken to Twitter to declare to the world that she had realized that people have begun treating her differently since she started hitting the gym and had transitioned from 100+ KGs to 88KGs. She was truly surprised that people have started treating her better than they did while she was a chonk.

And while a lot of the reasons why Ronoh was treated as she was previously is down to her personality, the change can be explained by something as simple as the fact that people who exercise communicate to the world that they take care of themselves. The world treats you how you teach them to.

Beyond that, she is a lot more positive and energetic. That is the best thing that she is doubtless reaping from the hard work she is putting in at the gym. Yup, Ronoh is now clear-minded and her health has become a lot better. On the flip side, she is even less at risk of the worst symptoms the beer bug has to offer.

Indeed, the energy coupled with a clear mind means she is a lot more creative. Also, she has shown herself (probably much to her shock) that she has a lot of self-discipline and can maintain an exercise regime. This is a huge confidence boost. Imagine thinking yourself a bum or a “free spirit” and then realizing that you were just not motivated? And now that you run more often and lift heavy things and put them back down you have motivation in spades?!

And have we even touched on just how amazing exercise is for mental health? Well, we all know Ronoh has had issues with this aspect of her wellbeing for a long time but exercise allows you to reflect and meditate on things and then come through with a solution, along with having your brain release endorphins.

But ultimately, the reason people are treating her better is that she looks better. I know, I said that this is what feminists would make a beeline for but at the end of the day, it is still a fact. Ronoh looks a lot better. And human beings are a very fickle species -that’s a lie, all lifeforms are shallow.

Chebet Ronoh Opens Up On Depression Rumours And Why She Left Radio

At just 19 years old, Chebet Ronoh began her life journey as a radio presenter. This made her one of the luckiest young people to bag such a lucrative job at such a tender age. She has already achieved a lot that some of her peers are not even near to achieve. She earned her first million at just 19!

However, she has revealed that radio wasn’t the path she really wanted to undertake. Speaking on her YouTube channel, she also cleared up rumours on being depressed. She says she’s okay and life is taking her well.

Ronoh’s Message

” I just went to a point in life where I chose myself and I began to make decisions for myself. In any situation, I am not depressed. I am very fine…

My career began in 2018. I was one of the very first content creators to begin… In 2019, other than doing Instagram and YouTube, I got a job at NRG radio station and I was so happy. I even left school. I remember I was at Brookhouse doing a program that kind of takes you abroad but then I was like, I don’t like this Mathematics, Science and Physics…

So I left school, went to radio. I was there for a year… April I left. I wanted to explore life beyond being employed. I wanted to know what it felt like to stand on my own.”

We need to pay attention to Chebet Ronoh’s cry for help

Chebet Ronoh has been posting some content on social media that was then captioned “Depression” and this missed the attention of alot of people but I would like to call attention to it especially for the people who consider her their friend.

”If You’re Short, Don’t Approach Me” Chebet Ronoh’s Message To Men Flirting With Her

You see, her life seems (even to the) casual observer to have taken a turn for the worse after she first left NRG Radio then was hired by HomeBoyz Radio only to get the boot once more.

And the toll this rollercoaster took on her psyché was evident even in her content which she began to post infrequently before she tapered off entirely on that and we started hearing rumours of her only ever spending her days drinking and partying.

I Smoked At A Police Station Inside The Cell- Chebet Ronoh Reveals

Chebet Ronoh is clearly not in a great place with regards to her mental health -to me and I can’t state enough that this is my opinion but when someone posts something telling you where their head is at, regardless of how uncomfortable the topic being addressed is, you have to address it.

You see, the topic of mental health issues is one that Kenyans are only beginning to understand and address. We used to view it as people either being lazy or just acting “spoilt”. But we now know better and need to do better.

Why the Chebet Ronoh story is a sad one

Ronoh is literally letting us know she needs help and this is something her friends cannot downplay nor walk away from. And thing is, they too need to seek advice on how best to address the issue because sometimes, the feeling waxes and wanes. And that is why some regrets people have about addressing the issue their friend has raised is that “marehemu alikuwa an furaha leo hata siwezi amini“.

So what now? Well, you can start by actually doing wellness checks. Different people, different points of the day. And while at it, why not encourage her to seek therapy so she can not only address the issues driving her depression or even get her referred to a psychiatrist if she needs anti-depressants but we cannot afford to stand by and act like this is not a cry for help.

Or maybe it is a bad joke but what do you lose ensuring that is not the case? A five-minute phone call isn’t too much to ask from her friends and family. But whatever the case may be, at the end of the day, the day will end.

Why the Chebet Ronoh story is a sad one

Chebet Ronoh first appeared on the scene as an Instagram comedienne. It was really a shock to the Kenyan social media experience as we did not have comedians sharing content we could relate to. As a result, she gained followers very fast and became a social media phenomenon.

And as her story began to soar, Chebet Ronoh found herself a gig on NRG Radio where she was part of a team that was meant to target the youthful demographic. Her star seemed to be on the rise and the sky was the limit.

However, for some reason, it imploded just as fast as it had exploded onto the scene. First, we saw her exit from NRG Radio and she did so in a manner that doubtless left bad blood between her and the company. You see, she would talk trash about her ex-employer and given the context of Kenya’s job market, that is a serious no-no.

Anyway, Chebet Ronoh then seemed to go off a wagon and was always seen getting high and enjoying herself in degeneracy and debauchery. She didn’t go back to doing what had got her the attention and accolades that had made us notice her. Instead, she chased solaced at the bottom of alcohol.

It was sad to see as Ronoh went from vibrant social media influencer and comedian to neighbourhood drunk. And this was during the one time when social media content was undergoing a boon as we all had to stay home due to the Corona quarantine.

Chebet Ronoh was then later thrown a lifeline when HBR signed her on as a radio personality. This was her shot at setting things right and showing up her naysayers. Most of her fans were excited for her and waited for a minute for her to finally be back on air and when she did, there was jubilation.

But this stint was even more disastrous than the previous one at NRG Radio because it was so short-lived, it was akin to a fart. Sure, Radio Africa is not known for being a champion of creativity but the fact that she couldn’t adjust to her reality was heartbreaking. But at the end of the day, she had been presented with two golden opportunities. Two more than most people are presented with in Kenya.

And so we are now faced with a Chebet Ronoh who doesn’t know what to do with herself as she simply moves from one party to the next and simply drinks and gets up to antics. She was last on the collective radar when she was drunk and disorderly at Carnivore and had to be booted off stage which she had bumrushed for no good reason.

Chebet Ronoh

And we have to wonder, why did she get here? It is probably because Chebet Ronoh hasn’t surrounded herself with positive forces and energies. She has no one around her who is willing to help hold her accountable.

Chebet Ronoh

it is the well-worn story of a young person getting fame and renown before they are mature enough to handle it. But perhaps all isn’t lost. She is back to posting more regu;larly so that is a start because I will admit that I am more a fan of her comedy than the tribal/ buffoonery brand a lot of Kenyan comedians favour.
