Former Churchill Show comedian Njoro back to drinking like a fish after rehab?

Comedian George Njoroge popularly known as Njoro did not have it easy in 2020 following the pandemic. However, it was not just him but everybody else trying to adjust to the changes that also included joblessness and a pretty shaken economy.

Well, we would have expected things to be a little different considering he is a celebrity who had bagged well paying deals right before the pandemic; so yea – there was no way Njoro was broke – but with the way he was he was drinking…mmmh red flag.

Njoro with Zeddy

I say this because in mid 2020 the comedian was rumored to be facing some mental health struggles due to finances. From the rumors circulating on social media is that Njoro has turned to alcohol for comfort; something that forced his wife and kids to move out – leaving him on his own.

Kenyans step in

As usual Kenyans on social media including his colleagues offered to help the young man bounce back; but before that he had to undergo some rehabilitation to help stop with the alcohol abuse.

However before moving to rehab – Njoro held a candid interview with Massawe Jappani to share his story; now that everyone was branding him an alcoholic. Speaking on the interview, the comedian did not just admit to having slipped but confessed how he wasted  Sh3.9 million on alcohol and parties.

From what he said is that he had made this money from the three US trips he had made in 2019 which earned him Sh1.3 million in each. However seeing how easy it was to make this kind of money he ended up wasting it all by spoiling his friends and others. He said;

“It was party after party for me. I had so much money at the time and I did not think it would ever run out. Hence, I blew it all and in no time, I was broke.”

Njoro sliding back into old ways?

Anyway months after bagging his job at KTN and having spent a couple of months in rehab – looks like Njoro could be slowly sliding back to when his life depended on alcohol.

Njoro reporting at popular rehab in the company of his mom

This is following a recent tweet shared by one Kinyua wa Muthoni who happened to bump into Njoro at a certain local; and according to the fella he is convinced that – former churchill Show comedian Njoro isn’t doing so well as we thought.

From what he wrote is that Njoro not only looked disturbed at the KEG joint but he also kept talking to him himself. And of course him being a celebrity, his presence at the pub wouldn’t have gone unnoticed.

But unlike other Twitter users who would have used this opportunity to roast Njoro, the guy instead pleaded with Njoro’s close circle to check up on their boy. Because he is losing it.

Comedian Zainabu Zeddy shares detailed update on funny man Njoro’s welfare

Comedian Zainabu Zeddy has been on the forefront fighting against the effects of depression on fellow comedians. This is after the tragic death of Kasee who was rumored to have committed suicide after months of struggling with depression.

According to Zeddy some of these comedians get to this point right after being dismissed from Churchill show. This is because they go back to zero after adjusting to certain short lived celebrity lifestyle.

She however blames the creative director at Churchill, Victor Ber; for being the main reason some of these comedians continue to lose their lives. This is because he apparently embarrasses, belittles and disrespects these comedians with no warning.

He is doing just fine

Well, now that it has been 2 months since comedian Njoro was admitted at a certain rehab; to help fight his mental health issues, Zeddy says that things on his side are now getting better.

It’s been almost two months since Njoro decided to seek help for his mental health issues. I am glad to share the good news that his recovery journey has been successful and I am looking forward to see the Njoro I knew before things went south. Her mom and family members visited him on his birthday and they shared with me the good news of how positive Njoro’s transformation has made them happy and proud. I look forward to the day he shall be discharged from the rehab and re-unite with his loved ones and hopefully see him back on screen doing what he does best. In life it’s ok not to be okay and seeking help is not a sign of weakness.
