The Bongo singer opened up about how much he spent to pay American artistes he has worked so far during a recent meeting between Tanzanian musicians and Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority (TCRA).
The singer spoke about the cost of working with Ne-Yo and Rick Ross. Diamond featured Ne-Yo to drop ‘Marry You’ in February 2017, he also featured Rick Ross on his song ‘Waka’ which was released in December 2017.
The two projects cost Diamond at least $160,000 or Kes 16 million. He revealed that Ne-Yo charged him $104,000/Kes 10 million whereas it cost him $56,000/Kes 5.6 million for the video shoot with Rick Ross.

On Tuesday December 18th Tanzania’s music regulatory body Baraza la Sanaa la Taifa (BASATA) issued a press statement indicating that Diamond and Rayvanny had been banned from performing inside and outside Tanzania.
The ban came after Diamond and Rayvanny performed ‘Mwanza’ during Wasafi festival at the lakeside city of Mwanza on Saturday December 15th.
Basata had banned ‘Mwana’ from being played on radio, TV, nightclubs, concerts or on any media in Tanzania. The music regulatory body claimed the song defied acceptable moral standards in Tanzania.
Diamond reacts
Diamond says that he will perform outside the country contrary to Basata’s ban which also forbids him from performing outside the borders of Tanzania.
The Bongo singer further suggested that he would relocate to Kenya where the culture is not as restrictive as Tanzania.
“Nini kitanifanyikia, sio kunifungia nyimbo, hainipunguzii kitu, mkinifungia ntaenda nje ntaiperform tu. Kama hutoka niperform si natoka naenda country nyingine tu. Nabaki uko naperform nyimbo zangu. Kwa sababu sharia hairuhusu, nyimbo haichezwi Tanzania, Tamaduni kama Kenya zinaruhusu mwanifungwa kwa sababu gani sasa? Mwataka mimi nife na njaa? “Baraza limefikia maamuzi ya kuwafungia rasmi kutokana na wasanii hawa kuendelea kuonyesha dharau na utovu wa nidhamu kwa Mamlaka zinazosimamia Masuala ya Sanaa nchini,” Basata’s statement read in part.
The decision by Basata puts Wasafi Festival in jeopardy, Diamond and his crew were supposed to perform in Mombasa and Nairobi on December 26th and 31st respectively.
Diamond’s father Abdul Juma has dismissed popular belief that he abandoned his son when he was only a kid only to resurface later when Diamond was rich and famous.
Speaking during an interview with Mwananchi newspaper, mzee Abdul said that Diamond’s mother Sanura Sandra and him went their separate ways when their son was in form one.

Tanasha was with just three friends the whole time she was at Kiza, the bodyguard kept an eye on her throughout and no one was allowed to go near her or even to take pictures of her.
Just like Esma, Diamond’s mother Sanura Sandra was openly opposed to her son marrying his baby mama Hamisa Mobetto. Sanura however fully supports her son’s decision to marry Tanasha.
Speaking during an interview with Risasi newspaper, Sanura said she was pleased with Tanasha’s young age (Tanasha is only 22 while Diamond is 29)
“Sasa nimkatae amenikosea nini mtoto wa watu? Nani amesema nimemkataa mkwe wangu? Kama mwanangu amemuona anamfaa basi nipo radhi amuoe maana umri wake unaenda na umri wa kumuoa,” said Sanura Sandra.
Diamond faced a lot of criticisms while he was cohabiting with his baby mama Zari Hassan who is 9 years older than him.
Diamond Platnumz and Zari Hassan parted ways on February 14th 2018. The Bongo singer is set to marry Tanasha Donna Oketch on the same date of his breakup anniversary in 2019.
Zari dumped Diamond after he cheated on her multiple times. The mother of five announced she was parting ways with her promiscuous baby daddy to preserve her dignity.

Valentine’s Day wedding
Diamond confirmed he will marry Tanasha on February 14th 2019 during an interview with Wasafi TV. The ‘Jibebe’ hit maker said their wedding ceremony will be a four day affair – from the 14th Thursday to 17th Sunday 2019.
“Nimepanga harusi yangu iwe Valentine mwaka ujao. Valentine itakuwa siku ya Alhamisi kwa hiyo naichukua Alhamisi, Ijumaa, Jumamosi mpaka Jumapili, harusi yangu. So far iko hivyo, ikitokea kuna kitu tofauti, nitabadilisha, lakini naitaka sana kuwa mwaka ujao,” said Diamond.
Adding that;
“Sababu nina kila sababu ya kuoa, imetosha, nimefanya vitu vingi sana yaani doooh! So I need to settle down. Nimekuwa mtu ambaye nime invest kwenye biashara nyingi, nina TV nina Radio, digital platform, Diamond Karanga, record label. Nahitaji mwanamke ambaye atanisaidia kuvihandle hivyo vitu kwa ajili ya kupanga maisha ya kesho.”
