Boondocks Gang educate fans about COVID-19 in new single ‘2020’ (Video)

Boondocks Gang, the group that brought us hits like Rieng, Madam and Kidolee is back with a new jam and this time around they are very serious because they are raising awareness about the corona virus.

The song dubbed 2020 talks about how the deadly virus has caused suffering across the world and led to the death of so many people across the world.

Boondocks Gang

In the song, they urge their fans to stay and follow the directives that have been put in place by the government such as; sanitizing, avoiding public gatherings and seeing a doctor when one has symptoms of the virus.

Although the message that this song carries is serious, Boondocks Gang still found a creative message to pass it and I think that’s really commendable.

One of the reasons why I love Gengetone and the artists behind it is because of their sheer creativity. These guys can come up with random rhymes and it’s just awesome to listen to them as they play around with words.

The first verse by Ex Ray is on point. He is one guy that never has to try so hard to impress and I guess that’s why I’m a big fan of his. You get hooked from the moment he starts singing.

Edu Maddox also aced it. His flow is so smooth and as you’re listening to him you’ll find yourself wondering why he’s so underrated because he is really talented.

Odi Wa Murang’a didn’t disappoint either. I often ask myself why people love him. Is it that he is a dope lyricist or is it because of his voice? Anyway, that is a story for another day, isn’t it?

The beat by Magix Enga is impeccable, unlike most Gengetone jams, it’s really subtle and I bet that was done to help you understand the seriousness of the message in the song.

I love the concept of the video though I must say that it felt really creepy at some point. Anyway, the locations, props, styling, dramatization and scene transitioning were also perfect.

Gengetone gospel should not become a thing!

There is a new music genre called Gengetone gospel and as much as it slaps so hard, I just hope it does not become a thing because it just seems like a mockery of God. Actually, it is.

It all started when Bahati released a song dubbed Taniua with Boondocks Gang which is made up of Ex Ray, Maddox and Odi Wa Murang’a. They are the guys behind hits such as Mboko Haram, Rieng and Kidolee.

Mr Seed followed suit with Kwa Hao alongside Vuva 34 GVNG, Breeder LW, Maddox, Dezian and Kartelo. I know it is only a matter of time before Willy Paul drops his.

Sooner or later upcoming artists will think its okay to release such songs because their role models and the bigwigs in the industry are doing so and it is then that things will get out of control.

I don’t know about you but I think the fact that gospel musicians are tasked with spreading God’s word should mean something.

They should not mix the gospel with all these dirty songs. It is completely wrong. I did not say that I have a problem with Gengetone, I enjoy it probably more than you but just not when associated with God’s word.

Bahati

A few days ago, I was watched an interview where Bahati why he did a collabo with Boondocks Gang and he said that he is trying to win them over to Christ.

What a joke. Their song was motivated by the need to make money and grow their fan bases. As such, it;s very wrong for Bahati to claim that he is leading Boondocks Gang to Christ because they will continue to make raunchy music.

Even in the song where Bahati featured them, Boondocks Gang threw in some coded and dirty Sheng words and they made me wonder what motivated them to poke fun at God and shoot the video in a Church to rub it in his face.

Ochunglo Family comes through on ‘Sambusa’ alongside Boondocks Gang and Addi Chokoch (Video)

If you’ve been wondering whether or not Gengetone is on its deathbed then perhaps you should listen to the new jam by Ochunglo Family, Boondocks Gang and Addi Chokoch.

The song titled Sambusa proves that the sound which became popular circa 2018 is very much alive and we can’t just wish it away.

If you ask me, and I know you won’t, it is probably one of the best Gengetone tracks that have been released since the new decade began because it’s so infectious.

I’ve listened to this song a couple of times since it was released and every time I play it, it’s like I’m hearing it for the very first time. Yup, it’s that good ladies and gentlemen.

One of the things that I totally love about these youngins is their creativity. Their ability to match random words and make them rhyme is quite impressive.

If you choose to ignore the dirty things that they are singing about, you will probably agree with me that they are the best thing that has ever happened to the Kenyan industry at large.

Addi Chokoch never ceases to amaze me. As I was listening to this jam, I began wondering where he has disappeared because it’s been a minute since I heard a song from him. He totally killed the hook for Sambusa.

Ochunglo Family members namely; Nelly The Goon and Ex Ray also did good job. However, if I had to pick one who swept me off my feet with his lyricism then I would go for the latter nevermind the rique things that he was saying.

Maddox and Ex Ray also brought their A-games on this jam but in this case I feel the former outshone the latter but I know some of you will disagree with me. Anyway, to each his own.

The beat on this track is impeccable. As you;re listening to it, you won’t resist the urge to dance. I don’t have much to say about the video since the format is the same with most Gengetone jams but I feel it works.

Boondocks Gang drops new hit titled ‘Kawazim’ alongside Sailors and Magix Enga (Video)

One of the collabos that many people, including yours truly, have really been looking forward to since the Gengetone sound emerged is between Sailors Gang and Boondocks Gang.

We’ve longed for the day when the two groups which have been instrumental in pushing the new Kenyan sound will come together on one song and after what seemed like a never-ending wait, that that day is finally here.

Sailors Gang

A few days ago, Boondocks Gang released a track dubbed Kawazim in which they have featured Sailors Gang and the award-winning producer Magix Enga and it’s getting a lot of love from their fans.

This jam is impeccable. As you listen to it, you get to appreciate the sheer creativity of these youngsters as well as the evolution of the Kenyan sound.

Although all the artists on this jam had some dope verses, if I was asked to pick one who I think really aced it then I’d go for Magix Enga. He has a good flow s much so that I kept rewinding his part.

Other than him, I was also impressed by Miracle Baby and of course Odi Wa Murang’a. I am not saying the rest were whack, it’s just that I resonated with the three aforementioned artists.

The beat on this jam is also infectious. Anyway, I was not expecting anything less seeing as it was produced by Magix Enga himself. Believe you me, you can’t resist the urge to dance as you listen to track.

Boondocks Gang, the group that became a household name in Kenya after releasing Rieng’ circa 2018, have released a new track alongside Berry Family – which is made up of Krystah, Blondy and Wesley Wess – and we are feeling it.

The song titled Kutu, which is a Sheng word that means dry spell, has been getting good airplay on both TV and radio since it was released a few days ago.

Odi Wa Murang’a

One of the reasons why I really love this jam is because of the creativity of the artists who were featured in it. Each of them has a unique ability to play around with words and make impeccable rhymes.

Take for instance Odi Wa Murang’a – who happens to be my favorite member of Boondocks Gang. He totally aced his verse. To add to that, he has this unique voice that you want keep listening to.

Ex Ray also did a good job on the hook. It’s so dope and maybe, just maybe, he’s the reason I can’t get enough of this jam.

Notably, Berry Family also delivered on this jam. I had to pick one of them then I would definitely go for the guy who is known as Blondy because I think I he has a lot of potential. Don’t get me wrong, Krystah and Wesley are also dope.

The beat on this jam is also on point so much so that you won’t resist the urge to dance when this song come on. The video was not that bad either.

Boondocks Gang, the group that became a household name in Kenya after releasing Rieng’ circa 2018, have dropped a new track alongside VDJ Jones and Mombasa-based singer City Boy and it’s a big tune.

The jam dubbed Prr has been getting good airplay on local TV and radio stations since it was released a few days ago and to be honest, we are also feeling it or else we would not be reviewing it, would we?

City Boy

On the surface, this track seems stupid and childish but if you listen to it keenly, you’ll appreciate the creativity of the artists who put it together and the ingenuity behind it.

The first verse by Edu Maddox is on point. His flow is so smooth and as you’re listening to him you will find yourself wondering why he is so underrated because he is really talented.

As expected, Ex Ray really came through on this joint. His verse is really solid. To add to that he has a unique ability of playing with words and making impeccable rhymes.

Boondocks Gang

Odi Wa Murang’a also aced it. Other than the fact that he laid down a good verse, he also did a good job on the hook thanks to his unique voice. Actually, I can never tell what I like more between his voice or impeccable lyricism.

City Boy spiced up the song by introducing a ragga/dancehall vibe. Notably, the beat is also great. However, this does not come as a surprise seeing as it was produced by the one and only Jegede.

I don’t have much to say about the video other than the fact that I loved the quality and of course, the vixens who are featured in it. The scene transitioning was also flawless.

Maddox drops new banger with Joefes and Kappy dubbed ‘Pose Za Kunguru’ (Video)

Edu Maddox, who is one third of Rieng hitmakers Boondocks Gang, has released a new jam alongside Joefes (Mbuzi Gang) and Kappy (Team Ganji) and it slaps so hard.

The song dubbed Pose Za Kunguru, which means a reven’s pose, has been ruling the airwaves since it came out a few days ago and to be honest we also love it or we would not be reviewing it, would we?

Listening to this track made me appreciate the creativity of these youngsters as well as the evolution of Genge music because it takes you back to the early 2000s when the likes of Jua Cali and Nonini were a big deal.

Joefes

I had a difficult time determining who is who on this jam since they kind of sound the same. Anyway, I must say that the guys first verse verse as well as the last did a good job.

I strongly believe that the two are Joefes and Maddox. Well, I could also be wrong but the truth is that I totally loved how they were playing around with words and making effortless rhymes.

The hook on this track is also very catchy and you are likely to master it after listening to it once. The beat is so dope so much so that you will retain this jam on your playlist for a very long time.

The jam titled Mdarano, which is a Sheng word that means caressing, has been ruling the airwaves since it came out out a few days ago.

I totally love this track. Wait, that is something that I say about most of Boondocks Gang’s songs but believe you me, this one is really dope.

Everytime I listen to these youngsters I not only appreciate their sheer creativity – which is evidenced by their ability to play around with words – but also the evolution of local music.

Ex Ray had a tight verse. He has some dope rhymes that will leave you scratching your head as you are wondering if any of it makes sense which to be honest in many cases it doesn’t.

Iphoolish also nailed it. I honestly don’t know if it’s a Gengetone thing but the deep bass works with him as well as it does with Odi Wa Murang’a.

Maddox did a good job. Truth be told, he’s a dope lyricist, perhaps even better than Odi Wa Murang’a and Ex Ray but for some reason he’s very underrated and I don’t know why.

The hook on this song is very catchy and so is the beat. Simply put, listening to this track instantly puts you in a good mood.

The song dubbed Kamweretho, which is a Kikuyu word that means disappearing without a trace, has been ruling the airwaves since it came out a few hours ago.

Joefes

Although this is a party tune, you have to love the creativity of the musicians who have been featured in it. They have a unique ability of playing around with words and this results in some very dope rhymes.

For instance, I think Joefes’ had a tight verse. His flow is also smooth and he makes it look so easy. I am sure that it won’t take long before Kenyans notice his talent.

As you’d expect, Odi Wa Murang’a also nailed it. The truth is that I’m yet to decide what between his hoarse voice or impeccable rhymes make him interesting to listen to, perhaps it’s the latter. You tell me.

34 GVNG’s Vuva

The hook on this jam is so catchy and easy to master. After listening to this song twice, or maybe thrice, you will just find yourself singing along to it and that’s not a bad thing or is it?

The beat, which was produced by Jesse, is also impeccable. Believe you me, this is one song that you can not listen to while seated down. However hard you try, you won’t resist the urge to dance along to it.

Boondocks Gang – a group that is made up of Ex Ray, Odi Wa Murang’a and Maddox – has began the new year with a bang after teaming up with Mbuzi Gang on a new jam.

Dubbed Modo Man, the song is about a certain chap who has unique abilities so much so that all the ladies are head over heels for him.

This jam is really dope. As you listen to it, you can’t help but love the wordplay and rhymes that these youngsters are dropping in the song. They make it look so easy!

The chorus by Ex Ray is so catchy and you just want to keep listening to it. It’s very likely that you will master it after listening to this song twice or maybe thrice because it just flows.

As expected, Odi Wa Murang’a and Edu Maddox also did a good job. Their rhymes in this jam are so on point and at some point you’ll just have to rewind their parts because it sounds so good to the ears.

Notably, Mbuzi Gang also impressed me and I wish I had known about them earlier. I tried searching for other songs by them but my efforts bore no fruit. Anyway, that’s a story for another day.

Mbuzi Gang is really dope. Although I don’t know his name, I must say that I really loved the first verse which was by one of them. His rhymes are out of this world and is it just me or does he sound like Odi Wa Murang’a?

The beat on this jam is also impeccable. Apart from the fact that it blends well with the flow of these youngsters, you will agree with me that it gives off a FOMO vibe.

One of the things that I loved about the video was the vixens who were featured in it, they can really shake it! To add to that, the editing was also flawless.

Rieng’ hitmakers Boondocks Gang have dropped a new song with Dezian Tyrone and it slaps really hard ladies and gentlemen.

The song titled Katika, which means ‘to dance or get down’, has been getting massive airplay on local TV and radio stations since it came out a few days ago.

I really love this jam. The lyricism on it is so dope, some of the verses will leave you scratching your head as you try to figure out what the artist meant.

Dezian Tyrone

I feel ashamed to say this but the truth is that I am just discovering this Dezian’s music but as they say, it is better late than never. Notably, he really did justice to that hook. His verse was also on point.

As expected, Boondocks Gang also came through on this jam. Of course, I really loved Odi Wa Muranga’s verse. At this point, I believe it more to do with his deep voice than his lyrics. I just don’t know.

The beat on this track is also sick. I am not really surprised seeing as it was produced by the one and only Sadafa. He did a great job.

Boondocks Gang, a group that is made up of Ex Ray, Odi Wa Murang’a and Edu Maddox, has teamed up with Joefes and Iphoolish on a new jam and we are really feeling it.

The song dubbed Vuvuzela epitomizes the growth of the trio since they made their debut on the local entertainment scene with Rieng in December 2018.

Odi Wa Murang’a

As you listen to this jam, you realize how the group has matured musically over the last few months. Their wordplay, rhymes, punchlines and general flow have really improved since we first came to know about them.

One of the people who really impressed me in this jam is of course Odi Wa Murang’a. His verse begins in Kikuyu and I think that the main reason why I love it never mind the fact that I don’t even understand the language.

Notably, the hook by Ex Ray is also catchy easy to master. Trust me, you’ll just find yourself singing along to the song because it’s so lit.

I also loved Joefes’ verse. I’m actually ashamed to say that I dismissed him the day I first heard a song by him. Had I known he was this talented, maybe I would have been easy on him.

The beat for this jam is dope. As you are listening to it, a picture of people getting down to it comes to your head and that simply means that it’s a club banger.

Timmy’s new collabo with Boondocks Gang dubbed ‘Kimangoto’ is a massive hit (Video)

Talented Kenyan singer Timothy Owuor, popularly known as Timmy Tdat, has teamed up with Boondocks Gang on a new released a new jam and we love it.

The song dubbed Kimangoto has been receiving massive airplay on both local TV and radio stations since it dropped a few days ago.

Initially, I was skeptical about collabos between new-age artists and those who’ve been the game for a bit longer but I have since changed my mind. I think it is the right way.

I enjoy both Timmy Tdat’s and Boondocks Gang’s music but when they came together on one song I lacked the right words to express myself.

This jam is a masterpiece not for any other reason but because it gives you the best of both worlds. It also shows that Gengetone is here to stay.

Although I loved Ex Ray’s and Odi Wa Muranga’s flow and rhymes in this jam, I know you will agree with me that the most underrated member of the group i.e. Edu Maddox nailed it in this one.

As expected, Timmy Tdat also came through. He style is very similar with these youngsters so much so that would be hard to tell who is who if you didn’t know their faces.

The one and only Vicky Pon Dis did a good job on the beat. I honestly can’t wait to see people dancing to this jam the next time I am out and about.

Although the video concept was also dope, I would have loved it even more had they not picked a school as a location and put on uniforms. This is entirely because of the things that they are signing about.

I’m sure most of you are fans of Boondocks Gang – the group that burst into the limelight after releasing the song dubbed Rieng’ or Peleka Na Rieng’ if you like.

In the last few months, the trio i.e. Odi Wa Murang’a, Ex Ray and Edu Maddox, has become such a huge deal that some of the group members have even landed collabos with leading local acts.

That notwithstanding, music fans still love to compare them against each other and more often than not Ex Ray is pitted against Odi Wa Murang’a, or is that not the case?

Some argue that Odi Wa Murang’a, who is known for witty lines such as siwezi mwaga nje hii si maji ya mbosho is the illest of the three.

Others on the other hand claim that Ex Ray whose popular line is ninajiaminia nina nguvu bila njugu is the supremo.

Boondocks Gang is the future of Kenyan music

I’m always awed by Boondocks Gang, the group that treated us to Rieng, because they are so creative. You agree, don’t you?

The group that is composed of; Odi Wa Murang’a (Kid Furnace), Edu Maddox and Ex Ray is without the future of Kenyan music, if they tone down their vulgarity.

Within a very short time, Boondocks Gang, has moved from an unknown group to one of the most most popular groups in the country.

Just like other new-age artists, they are really aggressive. They are fighting for a space in a very competitive industry an as such they’ve had to set themselves apart.

Apart from releasing a number of solo projects since 2019 begun, the group has also sought collabos with some of the leading artists in the country.

Some of the people they have worked with this year are; Willis Raburu, Kristoff, KRG The Don, DJ Lyta, Gwaash, Rankaddah, VDJ Jones, just to name a few.

These collabos have played a big part in expanding their fan base and as a result, their name has really grown. I just hope that thy will keep the momentum.

Rieng’ hitmakers Boondocks Gang have dropped another jam ‘Mboko Haram’ and it’s too lit (Video)

Boondocks Gang, the super-talented group that is made up of Ex Ray, Kid Furnace (Odi Wa Murang’a) and Edu Maddox, is back with another massive hit and we can’t stop jamming to it!

The song dubbed Mboko Haram, which is a corruption of Boko Haram, is all about the male genitalia yaani chuma (I kind of felt ashamed while writing this bu it is what it is ladies and gentlemen).

For the umpteenth time, if you are the kind of person who likes to focus on what they are singing about and not the wordplay then this Gengetone is not for you grandpa.

The group, which is also known as Genge La Bundoksi, really came through with some dope rhymes on this jam. Their creativity is totally out of this world.

Just like most people, I felt that Odi Wa Murang’a totally killed it on Mboko Haram.

There’s a part where he says, “Nishai vuta mbichwa nikaspinchi wagethomo, na mi si fala, najua nini hukaa kamoshono, ka singekuwa rapper ningekuwa refa wa ngono, unaendaje round moja, kunywa supu ya konokono.”

If this is not creativity then I don’t know what is, I really don’t.

The song was produced by the super-talented Sadafah and directed by Vikta Daniel. To say the least, they both did a commendable job, don’t you think so?

Side note: I don’t think they needed DJ Shiti and Kartelo to make this song viral. In my honest opinion, they serve no purpose at all! Come fight me!

Gwaash and Boondocks Gang have teamed up on a new fire banger dubbed ‘Kalongo’ (Video)

Boondocks Gang, or Genge La Bundoksi if you like, has teamed up with Gwaash on a new jam and we are really feeling it.

I’m probably dancing as I write this and you can’t even blame me. I mean, how can you?

When you talk about Kenya’s new-age musicians, you can’t fail to mention Boondocks Gang, who are known for their mega hit Rieng, and Gwash – who became a household name after releasing Wabebe.

As such, you know what to expect when you hear that the two are on one jam! Its smoooooking!!! (read this in Jeff Koinange’s voice).

The new jam dubbed Kalongo has been trending since it was released a few days ago. So far, it has garnered 95,000 views on YouTube and the comments section is a hot mess as you would expect.

Kalongo is a childhood game where people would pretend that they have a functional family i.e. dad, mum and the children. Kids would even cook!

Does that jog your mind? Well, the new collabo between Boondocks Gang and Gwaash borrows heavily from that. However, they disorted the childhood game and I’d rather not talk about that.

Both Boondocks Gang and Gwaash really came through with some impressive word flow. However, I was particularly impressed by Odi Wa Murang’a. This young man has some good flow. Where is the lie?
