”DJ’s Wapewe Freedom Ya Kucheza Local Music” Eko Dydda

Renowned Kenyan gospel musician Eko Dydda is the latest artist to defend the rights of local Dj’s to play local music. Dydda has recognized one the local DJ’s complaints; DJ Carlos, who has posted on social media about local restrictions, which hold them back. In addition, the DJ claims that South African DJ’s can be given shows in Kenya but Kenyan DJ’s can’t be given a show in South Africa.

He wrote,

”I’ve been living in SA for 17 years Now, hakuna DJ unaweza convince wa SA acheze ngoma ya Kenya.. Ask yourself mbona DJs wa SA wanapewa show Kenya na Kenyan DJs hawaendi SA?

It’s coz SA hawawezi ita DJ anacheza ngoma zao na mwenye hizo ngoma yuko around. Mimi nangoja nisikie Black Coffee ame make Mix ya Gengetone.”

Backing him up, Eko Dydda responded,

Leta hiyo simu!' Eko Dydda threatened at police station during live interview with Waihiga

”I agree with you 100% PLAY MINE MTU AKIKUULIZA NIAMBIE. It’s crazy how some people come up with laws that don’t even benefit the  ARTISTS but hurt them more. Hizo pesa wanasumbulia DJ’s hata sisi wasanii hazitufikii so you can figure out what their main aim is (to enrich themselves at the cost of the creatives livelihood). Cheza yangu KIMANGOTOS wakiuliza watume kwangu…

DJs wapewe freedom yakucheza local, starting with mine…”

I totally agree on this. Why should there be restrictions to local DJs for playing our own music?

What next for Eko Dydda after losing his uniqueness?

In as much as Eko Dydda is still making music, sometimes I wonder what happened to him, it almost seems like he disappeared after releasing Niko Na Reason.

The song that thrust him to the limelight was released circa 2007 and they way I see it, he is yet to release a song that has surpassed its popularity.

I know some of you will be quick to point out that he was the best male artist at the 2017 Groove Awards but that does not necessarily mean that he’s still a big deal.

You see, Eko Dydda’s had this unique style of stammering (intentionally) in his jams and it set him apart from the other gospel artists.

However, he abandoned it somewhere along the way which means that he sings and raps like every Tom, Dick and Harry. Perhaps, this is why his songs have lost taste.

Admittedly, people evolve with time. I’m not saying change is bad but at what cost? Does it mean that an artist has to lose his uniqueness while at it?

To add to that, Eko Dydda got caught up cheating scandals in the last few years and now the talented singer now a pale shadow of his former self.

Eko Dydda blesses fans with touching gospel track titled ‘Tawala’ (Video)

I’m a big fan of Eko Dydda like I am sure most of you are and that’s why I thought you should know that he has a new track.

The jam dubbed Tawala, which is a Swahili word that means reign, is without a doubt one of his best releases to this day. Believe you me it, beats the likes of Vidole, Reason, Cheki Vile etc. hands down.

Tawala is a beautiful praise song that talks about letting God’s spirit reign so that you can remain at peace no matter what is happening around you.

Eko Dydda

I absolutely love this jam. Other than the fact that it is well-arranged, it also epitomizes Eko Dydda’s growth since we came to know about him about a decade ago when he released Reason alongside Holy Dave.

Not that I had any qualms with it but it seems, he got tired of the ‘stammer rap’ that most of us came to know him for back in the day.

If you ask me, he’s much better at singing and maybe, just maybe that’s why many people, including myself, resonate with Tawala other than the fact that it carries a powerful message.

I know you will agree with me that the background vocalists really spiced up this jam. I keep imagining what it would sound like without their beautiful harmonies and I don’t think it would be as good.

The beat and instrumentation are also on point. They both make Tawala catchy nevermind the fact that it’s a gospel jam. The video execution was also simple but really dope.

Watch Tawala below and tell us what you think. Enjoy!

The rapper recently spoke with Monday Blues where he said that his wife was just tripping.

“She knows why she (Galia) put up the post and later took it down. That’s all I can say.” said the rapper.

Apparently, word has now emerged the woman in the picture is singer L.C, who is Juliani’s ex-girlfriend. LC did the song Hela with Juliani. Before Juliani switched to Brenda Wairimu, the two dated.

Eko Dydda posts clip with wife and kids to prove everything is fine in paradise

Rapper Eko Dydda was recently on the spot for allegedly kicking out his wife and kids.

Rumours about the rapper falling off with his wife filled social media forcing the rapper to come out and deny that he has gotten a younger woman to replace the mother of his two kids Amblessed Dydda and Keepitreal Dydda.

“You know me. I cannot dare do all that which is being alleged online. My wife and children are with me, and I do not know where that bad rumor came from. I, however, leave it to God to fight for me,” he said in an interview with Edaily.

Still together

The rapper recently posted a clip online to show that all is well with his family and to prove to Kenyans he’s not an animal as people claimed.

Why Eko Dydda studied at Riverside Girls High School, an all-girls school

Gospel singer Eko Dydda has hustled his way up from a mere garbage collector to a renowned artist.

The singer recently opened up on some rather surprising information about his high school life saying that he went to an all-girls school.

Dydda said that he dropped out from Eastleigh Boys High School while in form 2 due to lack of school fees and became a garbage collector in an effort to raise the fees,  getting paid roughly Ksh 50 from the sale of waste polythene bags.

Luck

The Vidole hit singer then got lucky after one of his former teacher offered to pay half of his fees but, there was still one problem.

The only slot available was at Riverside Girls High School. Eko pushed his pride aside and enrolled in the girls’ school and had to repeat form two to catch up with the new curriculum.

“All I wanted was to go back to school so when the opportunity came calling, I was willing to compromise my pride especially because I knew I was not destined to be at a garbage site. I had to repeat classes because the syllabus had changed so I went back to form two so that I could catch up with the new curriculum. My performance went up because I was less distracted. I think that is where I mastered the art of being focused on the core purpose that is why I am rarely distracted by what others are doing and sometimes what they are saying,” he told Salon Magazine.

Eko Dydda and wife: We have agreed not to take our kids to school

With all the drama that is happening in schools nowadays, gospel singer Eko Dydda and his wife are calling it a pass. The two have decided they will home school their two kids Keepitreal Favour Dydda and Amblessed Wisdom Dydda.

Speaking in an interview with EVE, the couple shared that normal school system doesn’t fit their kids. Plus, they also don’t want other people raising their kids.

“My wife and I decided that public school and private did not work for us because we want to be present in our kids’ lives, and we did not want other people raising our kids. Plus, we believe that how school is structured these days turns children into robots who cannot do anything without asking the teacher or even simply reason,” he said.

Adding:

“We want our kids to be independent thinkers, to be able to reason and to know that they can chart their own destiny that they do not have to follow what everyone else is doing. We hope to home-school them until Campus if possible!”

The couple has always ensured their kids, who are also artists, are different. Regarding their names, Eko Dydda said that they choose their names in a way that would’t reveal their tribes.

“We did not want to give our children names that would align them to any tribe. I left the task of naming our children to him and I was totally ok with the names he came up with… I believe there is so much power in names. The sentence names are a name like any other,” his wife said in another interview.

Singer Eko Dydda chased away by drunk students before performance: He’ll start preaching to us

Gospel singer Eko Dydda can testify he recently had a direct encounter with Satan while trying to spread the word of God.

The Vidole hitmaker was recently forced to cancel his performance after drunk Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) chased him off demanding they want a secular artist.

Not today

The singer was set to perform at the cultural week but things turned ugly after students demanded he shouldn’t perform because he’ll start preaching to them.

“We do not want gospel singers in this mood. We need someone who can rock when we are this high. Eko will start preaching to us, let him go!” the students said.

Still, Satan didn’t win. Not completely. Fortunately, the event organizers had already paid him KSh. 50,000 to perform between 1 am and 4 am.

Meet Eko Dydda’s 5 year old and 2 year old sons who can rap better than that guy from Kayole… They have just released their latest song (Video)

Popular gospel rapper Eko Dydda has successfully groomed his sons to follow in his footsteps. The rappers’ young sons have released at least two songs that are dope.

Eko Dydda has two sons, 5 year old ‘Keep It Real’ and 2 year old ‘Am Blessed’. (Don’t be worried, the funny names are just their pseudonyms).

The ‘Baba Yuko’ hit maker is nurturing his sons’ talent, the two youngsters have taken after their father in the art of rapping and even seem to be doing much better.
