‘Motherhood Is Beautiful & Satisfying’-Gospel Artist Evelyn Wanjiru Celebrates Son As He Turns 5 Months

How would you feel as a woman after a 10-year waiting for your first born child? Not everyone would have such patience, especially for a married couple.

This is what gospel musician Evelyn Wanjiru and her hubby Agundabweni had to endure before welcoming their first born.

Today, they celebrate their first born son Mshindi, who has just turned 5 months. Taking to her social media, Wanjiru penned a sweet message:

“My son Mshindi A.A is now 5 months + Yeahhh ????????…. the Grace that is given to mothers unbelievable. Motherhood is a full-time job the most challenging, as well as beautiful and utmost satisfying vocation in this world. Just looking at how his tiny hand fits my parm…soon he will be the one standing tall before me….funny how ati sasa anatowa words dada…daddy dadaada????????‍♀️????????‍♀️… guys you should see how @agundabweni anabambika some told me Mshindi recognize leadership????????????…kila wakati yes baba am here…..it’s not fair he should start with mama…???????? coz I spend 70% of the time with him ….jamani…kinamama….oyeee….”

Baby Mshindi Akweyu Agundabweni, arrived on April 6, a day before the couple’s 10th wedding anniversary.

Evelyn and her hubby decided to name their son Mshindi after their dad passed on.

After he passed on, we were talking and I asked him, ‘If we happen to get a child, what would you want me to name the child?’ And he was straight to the point: If it’s a boy, call him Mshindi.

The song titled Sitaogopa, which is a Swahili word that means ‘I’ll not fear’, has been ruling the airwaves since it was released a few hours ago and to be honest, we are also feeling it.

Basically, this song assures believers that they don’t have to fear anything because they have Jesus on their side, he’ll always protect them and ensure no harm comes to them.

Sitaogopa is very infectious. I have listened to it a couple of times since it was released and every time I play it, I feel like I’m hearing it for the very first time. Yup, it’s that good.

It also carries a very powerful message and if you are a believer you will not resist the urge to get up and sing along in praise of the most high.

The other thing that will definitely catch your attention, other than Evelyn Wanjiru’s amazing vocals of course, is the level of energy in this song. Clearly, they know what it means to praise God.

The background vocalists also did a good job. Their voices blend so well with that of Evelyn Wanjiru and nothing was out of sync.

After listening to Sitaogopa, I know you will agree with me that the instrumentation was really dope. Perhaps it’s the reason why I’ve had this song on repeat since it came out. The trumpet sound is so infectious.

As I mentioned earlier, this song has a lot of energy and as you watch the video which was directed by Solomon K, it’s likely that you will find yourself singing along and dancing. Props to the BGVs and dancers.

In the song dubbed Pamoja Tutashinda, which loosely translates to ‘we’ll win together, the musicians appeal to their fans to follow the directives that have been placed by the government to ensure that they don’t contract the virus.

Some of the measures include; washing hands regularly, working from home and avoiding social gatherings, wearing a mask, and seeking medical help when you have Corona virus symptoms.

In Pamoja Tutashinda, the singers say that they are confident that God will help us overcome the deadly disease that kills within few days and we should take the necessary steps to protect ourselves and those around us.

They go on to say that though we can’t see each other as  much as we want, we’re all in this together and we’ll emerge victorious if we are united in this fight.

Chris Adwar

I absolutely love this jam. Other than the powerful message that it carries, I am sure that after listening to it, you will agree with me that it’s such a beautiful composition.

The singers who were featured on Pamoja Tutashinda are some of the best vocalists that we have in Kenya and they really brought their A-game.

They put their amazing voices to good use by highlighting the seriousness of the virus so that people who can’t listen to the government for one reason or the other can at least listen to them.

I also loved the instrumentation on this song. Other than the fact that it makes it catchy, they also blend well with the vibe and tempo of the artists. I was impressed by the video, although the concept is simple, the execution is so dope.

¨I tried to lose weight to fit into society, only to become paralyzed¨ Gospel singer, Evelyne Wanjiru attests

Award-winning Gospel singer, Evelyn Wanjiru has spoken of how, trying to fit in, in the slim-figure world, made her paralyzed.

Barely aged 16, the sassy singer sort all sorts of exercises, to live ´the life´.

I tried to lose weight by exercising using a roller at only age 16, because I wanted to fit in. At one point, my legs became paralyzed.

I wanted to fit in – Singer, Evelyne Wanjiru narrates

Her quest caused her pain, misery and sent her lying on the hospital bed.

I used to read the Bible while in hospital but I still felt like my life had ended because I could not do anything for myself.

She cautioned, basing on her own experiences:

If you use the roller, the wrong way, it can kill your nerves. That is what happened to me, all my back nerves died. I had to undergo physiotherapy because I was ill for a year. It was a miracle [that I recovered]. That is why I did my song ´Waweza.´
