New High Court ruling lessens Babu Owino´s bail terms

Tuesday, the 3rd of March, the high court relieved Babu Owino of half his cash bail and challenged his payment of DJ Evolve´s hospital bill as misplaced.

The Embakasi East MP´s wishes had finally come to reality after High Court Judge, Luka Kimaru ruled that the politician should not be forced into paying the DJ´s hospital bill.

According to the judge, payment of the entertainer´s pending bill should be considered a moral obligation and not forced on him by any means.

The accused person should continue paying the hospital bill as a moral duty to him, not as a court order. If he fails to pay, it is up to him and his God.

Further stating that payment of the hospital bill by the legislator does not in any way imply that he was guilty of the attempted murder charges.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Babu Owino admitted that the hospital bills are not a walk in the park, sharing:

It is a little too much, but I will continue paying the bills.

So far, a payment of Ksh 4.4 million has been made according to the bail terms, with a remaining Ksh 600,000 that will see him get remanded until it is cleared.

Re-consideration

On the 27th of January, the youthful MP had applied for a cash bail reduction, seeking an alternative bond.

In an application filed to the court, Babu revealed that it was proving difficult for him to meet the cash bail terms, being a little too hefty for him.

I have partially compiled with the terms as set out and thus I am out on bail but I know that I thus would also appreciate an and above a reduction of the amounts stated being Ksh 10 Million.

Just to clarify, the Embakasi East lawmaker stated that paying the DJ´s hopital bills, does not in any way mean that he is guilty of the shooting.

Despite the fact that I had voluntarily started assisting the victim in meeting the medical expenses and had pledged to voluntarily continue doing so, at no point was it to depict an admission of guilt as the Court seems to have depicted. Thus, the same should not be used to render high or punitive bail terms.

K24 top news anchor, Anjlee Gadhvi fought grueling battles after her unceasing battle with cancer that took her away from the world in the most saddening of states.

The Cancer warrior had in 2017 jotted a moving poem to her ally and confidant, Janet Kanini Ikua, while they were both battling the harsh illness.

Janet passed on after losing her battle to cancer and this split Anjlee in the most painful of ways.

So Anjlee decided to pen her a poem, on hearing of Janet´s untimely demise.

The journalist and mother of 2 daughters, Anjlee Gadhvi, unfortunately lost her life on Friday, the 10th of January 2020.

After looking so graceful, healthy and glad to see a new year unveil, the world lost Anjlee and we are still in shock.

As Kenyans and the world at large continue to mourn the brave, kind-hearted and highly-spirited media personality, a section sought to unearth the memories she had left behind.

Yet another top popular anchor set to exit our local screens

Popular NTV Swahili news anchor, Doreen Majala is allegedly gracing her last day at NTV come the 25th of December 2019.

According to an undisclosed source to Opera News, the TV girl handed over her resignation letter roughly a month ago ahead of her exit from the local station.

The low-key personality however noted:

The media reports further confirm that Doreen leaves NTV after 1 and a half years of hosting the Sunday prime time news.

Doreen Majala is undeniably one of the top-rated news anchors at the station, whose pockets sure run deep.

Soon after brilliant journalists exited NTV for rival stations, Doreen´s Sunday bulletin rose to fame thus attracting a lot of interest from the station´s top management.

Anyway, despite her popularity, colleagues felt her ranking was a bit too high compared to already well-established brand names.

Jacque Maribe fires back at Anne Kiguta for taking shots at ´lover´, Dennis Itumbi

K24´s Punchline host, Anne Kiguta is a no-nonsense political journalist who goes for what she wants and won´t retreat until she gets what she came for.

Her most recent Sunday interview on ´Punchline´was with controversial personality, Dennis Itumbi.

What Anne Kiguta was trying to understand is, how Dennis Itumbi, his alleged lover, Jacque Maribe and other controversial personalities were able to clinch the Head of State commendation from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Therefore, Anne questions whether these awards were actually given to well deserving personalities. Or which criteria exactly, was used to arrive at the individuals accorded the award.

Among the individuals commended back in 2017, include Dennis Itumbi, Jacue Maribe, popular Githeri man and controversial blogger, Robert Alai.

An award that saw these individuals trend for as long as they were the topic of discussion even though masses questioned the criteria used.

He [President Uhuru Kenyatta] should revoke awards previously given to undeserving individuals in the past so that the name Kenya remains associated with Glory and not mediocrity.

Exclusively with Anne Kiguta, this was Dennis Itumbi´s response in regard to the awarded Head of State commendations:

This (award) was my boss just saying ‘Dennis, well done. The issues (which led to my consideration for this award) were two. One was the attempt to connect Nakuru to free wifi. The second one was introducing a digital infrastructure for government and that was both human and physical. There was a contract with the County Government of Nakuru (about the wifi) then. For two years, the wifi worked in some places and didn’t work in other places. By the way, it was done without using public money so in essence, it was a good attempt.

According to him, he was well-deserving of the award, adding that:

Heroes are in different categories. there are those who fought for Independence and those whose works have been admired by the public. The national awards and honors secretariat receives nominations from various stake holders. They analyse the individuals and select the most qualified.

Vocal COTU Secretary General, Francis Atwoli seems worried for marrying a third wife and is now seeking God´s pardon.

The African labor Leader has time and again defended his position to take KTN news journalist, Mary Kilobi as his third wife, though twice younger his age.

During a funds drive in Kakamega on Sunday, Atwoli clarified that he did not marry because of lust.

Rather basing on his tight work schedule, he needed someone to support him, at his old age. However, it is his hope that God will forgive him for marrying a second wife.

I also want someone that can travel with me. Since I’m getting old, I need medicine and someone who can tell me when I have due meetings. As you know, the mother of my children my rural home. If I decide that I want to start travelling around with her, I’ll find no home. Therefore, I must have someone who manages me and another to take care of my home.

The 69-year-old trade unionist, further showered Mary Kilobi with praises revealing that she is a church treasurer and therefore can easily abandon her faith.

Veteran Kenyan athlete, Eliud Kipchoge has not only inspired his homeland, but the world at large. To an extent that so much is being done, just in honor of the marathon world record holder.

Streets being named after him, corporate re-branding, big business names putting offers on the table for him to savor as he desires.

And I’m sure we already have kids who’ve been named after him already. It’s noble and at the same time humbling for the Kenyan field athlete. He deserves it anyway.

Away from that, the media has also seized the opportunity to tag along the world record holder as a re-branding strategy.

Sunday, the 13th of October, NRG radio made public fact that they are re-branding to ‘Kipchoge Radio’ for a week, starting today, the 14th of October.

According to a press release from the local station, this move is to honor the marathon runner for covering 26.2 miles in 2 sub-hours, on Saturday the 12th of October.

Having matched up to the INEOS Challenge. The Nairobi-based radio station covers roughly two-thirds of the nation with its greater audience being the youth.

And since Kipchoge has been an inspiration especially to the local youth and beyond, ‘NRG radio being the number 1 youth radio station’ locally, seeks to challenge the young people.

Former Machachari TV show actor celebrates his late mother in special message

Actor Baha is grateful for everything he has faced since losing his mother to cancer back in 2013.

The now grown actor recently opened up for the first time about his late mother, Beth Nyambura Mbaya who was also known as Wanade on TV Show – Mother-in-law.

Speaking to Mpasho during his interview, Tyler Mbaya revealed that he missed his late mother’s cooking saying;

“I miss my mother’s food especially mandazi. She used to cook sweet mandazis and packed for us to eat in school. I wish i knew the recipe she used,”

Tyler went on to reveal that losing his mother left him at a tough position since he was a ‘mamas boy’; but now that she was no more the actor says his life took a drastic change.

Baha went on to narrate saying;

“Losing parents at a young age made me mature very first and see life differently. I just thank God for everything because you never know who I would have grown into. I was definitely a mama’s boy and all that changed when she passed. Maisha ilinionesha ugumu ingine na nikakauka nayo and turned out to be a better person, a tough one and maybe that was God’s plan for me.”

As mother and daughter lay helpless as their Toyota ISIS car gradually sank with very little hope left, one man did the most noble thing so far.

Individuals watched the car sinking and Mariam crying out for help. But one man bravely came out and without much ceremony, took immediate action to try and rescue the two.

I want to mention him, not once, not twice, I want to mention him so many times though I don’t know his name. I don’t know his name but I know of his bravery and his golden heart. The man I don’t know his name is the only brave man in the coastal region. This brave man, when everyone else was doing nothing he jumped to the ocean. When Mariam and her baby Amanda were shouting for help he had jumped with a rope, though the bystanders heard the cry for help. The man I don’t know his name was the only one who heeded the cry of Mariam and Baby Amanda.

Without any life-saving gear, without any oxygen tank. Basically lacking any protection from the imminent dangers in the deep ocean waters. The man was determined to save at least a life.

A man, who has captured the hearts of many including the mother of 3, Lulu Hassan. A guy who might not have received as much recognition as the ‘divers’ have, but it does take courage.

The media personality has come out with one humble plea to the public, to help her identify the man with a big heart.

Because despite fact that he might not have been accorded the deserving recognition, Lulu believes the man is brave and worth celebrating.

Gone too soon

Adding that Mariam probably did want to thank the man for his efforts. But the tides did not allow her to thank him for his big heart and bravery.

Mariam may have seen him before it was dark. She may have seen him and said bye and thanks before the salty waters filed up her lungs. Mariam may have seen this great man before her tears were carried away by the powerful waves and said thanks anyway. She and her baby died a painful death, she died when those concerned of her safety were in deep slumber only to wake up and shed crocodile tears.

Though he did not succeed, the man I don’t know his name, had tried, he had no oxygen cylinder. He had no swimsuits, no speed boat, nothing but a big heart. Almost sacrificing his life to save another. He had tried. I think Mariam never knew his name too, she had seen him try, but said bye and thank you before it was all dark. Saddened Gospel singer Bahati pours his heart out to Likoni ferry tragedy victims

Popular gospel artist, Kevin Bahati has expressed deep sorrow for victims of the unfortunate Likoni ferry incident, on Wednesday.

An accident that took place on Sunday’s evening and that has raised questions about the kind of emergency response the Kenyan government has in place.

Unfortunately, a higher percentage remain questioning the system as the ‘Unavyonipenda’ singer cited the same.

According to Bahati, the country is still not prepared to handle such kind of incidences that demand immediate responses.

Sharing a clip of the unfolding of events as the car stayed afloat before it soon after completely submerged, he tearfully captions:

It now clocks 5 days since the unfortunate happening. However, not much really has been done by the Kenyan government or forces responsible to attend to the situation.

Mariam Kighenda and her 4-year old daughter, Amanda Mutheu are among the victims of the accident. One that occurred after their car slid back from an MV Harambee, while they were coming from their farm in Kwale county.

It is with deep grief that family members have to watch as the government makes slow attempts to recover bodies of their loved ones.

“You are the only woman who can make me settle down” Otile Brown continues to beg his ex girlfriend

Otile Brown is not ready to let go of his ex girlfriend, Nabayet! The singer has already released a new song dedicated to the lady and from his lyrics it seems that he is sorry for losing her.

In the new song the fella goes on to beg the lady for forgiveness and promises to settle down if she comes back.

However, Nabayet recently went on to share a new post on her Instagram explaining why it was not possible for her to get back with the singer. She wrote;

Dear in-laws y’all are the sweetest and I have seen your kind words and unwavering support since day one and I have no idea what I did to deserve such love. “There are so many idlers in Nairobi” Kiza MD strongly refutes deportation claims

Reports have indicated that proprietor of popular night club and restaurant, Ali Oumarou has been deported by the Kenyan government. This is after claims of his involvement in crime.

According to intelligence reports, Mr Ali Oumarou, who is a Niger national, is a leader of an International criminal gang.

The businessman came to Kenya back in 2014  and now co-owns the famous Kiza Lounge and Restaurant which is located in Kilimani area, Nairobi.

Additionally, the night club has spread its roots to Canada, Nigeria and Dubai.

Thursday, last week, the Interior Ministry told the Nation that Mr Ali is a wanted figure even in other countries for his criminal activities.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Wangui Muchiri stated:

His work permit had expired and we realized that he was part of an international criminal gang.

However, the ministry failed to disclose further details on Mr Oumarou’s property repossession.

Funny thing though, from his end, the Kenyan-based businessman refutes the claims of him being a peddler, terming them as just ‘rumors’.

Babu Owino opens up on gambling to pay fees while in the University

Embakasi East lawmaker, Babu Owino indulged in betting while pursuing his first degree in the University.

Speaking to an NTV reporter, the vocal MP recalls the day he gambled and won a whooping Ksh 100,000 which actually paid up his fees and graduated.

Paul Ongili alias Babu Owino undertook a parallel programme at the University of Nairobi from 2018 right through to 2012. He studied Actuarial Science, scooping a First Class Honors at the end of his 6 years.

Babu further disclosed that gambling has seen him through this far. Therefore, should not have the youth denied such opportunities that could do the same for them too.

Betting

In defense of the betting industry, he believes these are job opportunities for the youth especially having in mind the current tough economic times and minimal job opportunities.

Whatever little the youth can get, the government takes it away from them by shutting the firms down.

All he asks for is for the government to give closing betting firms, a second thought.

The youthful politician has been at the forefront campaigning for ‘fairness’ in the betting industry. One he alleges is hindered by conflict of interest and vulnerable to interference from senior government officials.

Earlier on, the member of parliament pinned the blame on the Interior CS, Dr Fred Matiangi whom he believes decided to revoke the licenses based on the ‘waging war for personal gain’.

So far, only 10 betting firms that had been listed have had their licences restored after complying with the government’s regulations.

Well, the mother of two says there is nothing wrong with having sex when a lady is on her periods; but there are a few precautions people should take.

The lady opened up saying;

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong, I just think you have to take certain precautions, you have to have a towel, you have to make sure that you’ve covered the sheets I guess. Some people find it very messy but I don’t there is anything wrong per say in terms of is it a health risk etc. Just take precautions is what I would say and here is another thing I would say, have your partner wear a latex condom if possible. It will protect against pregnancy and STIs,”

Mr Seed has finally featured his wife on his latest project dubbed superstar which is dedicated to Nimo Gachuiri who is the mother of his child and life partner.

Zari and ‘King bae’ seem to have gone all out to mark Tiffah’s 4th birthday.

This is Judging from the photos shared from the birthday party that left Latiffa and her friends feeling like princesses.

Unlike the usual cut caking and garden birthday parties we are used to, Zari decided to give her daughter and friends a spa date where the kids had their manicures and pedicures done.

“I am done” Diana Marua reveals she will not be having any more children in future

With a baby boy on the way, Diana Marua has now revealed to have no plans of adding another child in the near future.

The lady who is married to singer Bahati will become a mother of 2 once their son arrive. She welcomed their first child in February 14 2018 and judging from her recent posts, her baby boy will be here soon too.

This last weekend the couple held a low key baby shower and gender revealing party that saw their close friends and family members attend the event.

Anyway in a post shared by Diana Marua’s best-friend, the lady went on to thank the Bahati’s for letting her host their baby shower.

She went on to show gratitude for their friendship and jokingly added that they should also allow her to host their next baby shower next year.

However Marua was quick to say that there wouldn’t be a next time since she is done having children! Not quite sure whether it’s for good or just until Heaven and her brother grow up.
