It’s almost two years since Karen Knaust Karimi lost her sister. Ruth Wangeci Knaust was killed on the night of 29th November 2015.
Ruth passed on when a drunk driver veered off his lane and rammed head on into her car. She succumbed to the injuries minutes after being taken to the hospital.
Ruth and her two sisters Karen and Vaishali had just attended Eric Omondi’s Untamed show at the Bomas of Kenya before the accident happened.
Karen Knaust still traumatized
Karen is haunted by images of the drunk driver who took the life of her sister. The former K24 anchor says she still has nightmares of the fateful November 29th accident.
Karen Knaust Karimi left K24 sometimes in March 2017, some five months after she announced that she was engaged to her boyfriend.
She didn’t leave K24 because she landed another lucrative job, love compelled Karen Knaust to take a leap of faith and quit her job at K24 so that she could be with her sweetheart.
The former K24 anchor explained her decision to quit 24 on Instagram while responding to the trending social media ‘Love Chain challenge’, a charitable initiative by the House of Dior that requires participants to say what they would do for love.
For each #diorlovechain post, the iconic fashion house pledged to donate $1 to the WE Charity (formerly known as Free the Children). Specifically, the donations will benefit the WE Schools program, a charity backed by actress Natalie Portman, which helps educate young girls in Kenya.

“Some people quit their jobs in order to raise children, start a family…Some people leave because their Man is willing to take on all financial responsibility… Either way, quitting a job is a Major move. I had to make sure it’s the right decision. I love my husband to be, but I don’t want to end up regretting losing my career. That is what I have done for love ?” Karen Knaust wrote.
She didn’t leave K24 because she landed another lucrative job as earlier thought, circumstance compelled Karen Knaust Karimi to take a leap of faith and quit her job without guarantee of getting another job.

Well, apparently her fiancé was the reason why she had to quit her job at K24. The former anchor revealed that she wanted to be close to her sweetheart who is a pilot working for an airline in the Middle East.
“I not moving to another TV station, I have plans of fully relocating to the Middle East in a few months’ time,” Karen Knaust told eDaily in a recent interview.
She however made it clear that many people supported her ‘risky’ decision including former colleagues at Mediamax and her fiancé.
“My husband to be is a pilot who works for a Middle East airline. On my relocation to the Middle East, it is a decision we both made. I am glad my then-colleagues and bosses at Mediamax supported my decision to leave the station for greater things,” Knaust added.
The former K24 anchor hasn’t set a date for her wedding yet, she however made it known that she will be walking down the aisle anytime after August 8th general election.
K24 beautiful news anchor Karen Knaust Karimi has quit Uhuru Kenyatta owned Mediamax Network Limited. Karen’s departure comes barely five months after she announced that she was engaged to her boyfriend.
Karen used to anchor primetime news at K24, she mostly paired with Eric Njoka to ‘light up’ the studio while doing their work.
The eye candy was thrown a goodbye party at K24 studios after she anchored her last bulletin at the Kijabe street based TV station.
Karen’s colleagues wished her well in her endeavors, they revealed how much they would miss her presence at K24.
