Comic Music now a thing and Kenyans love it

Kenyan Comedians are definitely a unique lot in the creative industry. As at now they are choosing a different niche in music for comic relief. Parody!

When I did an article on Eric Omondi being the King of Kenyan Parody, it didn’t mean he was the only one.

Music has a way to which it gets into us.It entertains, encourages and more creates an easy to cope to environment.

Parody

Well, Kenyan comedians have decided to tap on this art as they keep creating comic content using music.Mostly, as parodies. Trust Kenyans, we seem to appreciate the comic gimmicks of music more than the original versions of it.

As you ponder to understand, the point of parodies seems to be working for them.

For instance Eric Omondi takes the title of King with his versions of Extravaganza  By Sol Generation to Extrawajanja that he features fellow comedians Mulamwah, Mammito and Kartelo. Something Kenyans lauded Omondi for being keen to see others grow.

Padi Wubonn is also a Kenyan Comedian that uses parody for his skits but sadly is so underrated. He is recently did a parody of Tanzania’s Diamond Platinumz featuring Fally Ipupa’s Inama. I liked the creativity put in it.

Incorporation of Comedians to music

As time goes by , other comedians like Kartelo have managed to create a name such that recently Rico Gang featured  Kartelo in their new song Kimonyoski.

That should tell you the kind of reach Kartelo has acquired as at now. With his Sheng’ prowess it now is a thing. Clearly we live for such moments.

That aside,  Eddie Bituta of the famed Churchill Show released a song titled Kidesign. The song is a feel good song that clearly portrays the daily struggles to have a complete look, with emphasis on operating ‘kidesign”. This jam is a hit.Good Job Butita we need more juice.

This among many others, seemingly comedians are trying to use different ways to make comedy more interesting.

They are clearly working on breaking the routine stand up comedy to reach more avenues. This is something this country should be proud of now.

Eric Omondi the King of Comedy and Music parody

Eric Omondi is a Kenyan comedian that can now be termed as the King of Comedy. I mean he is the best  in Africa anyway.

The award winning comedian had his days of glory when he started off  at Churchill Show such that when he left he made sure his name would remain relevant.

How? Using music and creativity as his tool to staying in the limelight.

Despite the love story drama and other shenanigans that befall him, Eric always sails through them like nothing happened. Some people need this kind of courage to make it in the industry.

King of parody

As I mentioned earlier, Eric Omondi picked and angle that would keep his brand on the trend. Clearly, he identified music parodies as his new niche.

Since long enough , Kenyans have appreciated Eric’s creativity of using the top most trending songs.

Further, he maintains the tune of the original song I believe to make the songs easy to relate to by his fans.

From Patriotism to Socialism he manages to coin his words and makes sure they entertain and also pass a message.

Most Popular parodies Today

Eric Omondi the King of Parody

Kanyaga

Originally done by Diamond Platinumz. For Eric Omondi has created a parody out of this, with link to the  Africa Cup of Nation games happening in Cairo, Egypt.

After Kenya was trashed by Algeria, Eric is creating a patriotic song to gunner more courage Kenyan team set to play against Tanzania on 27th June 2019.

The video quality was top notch I must say. Not forgetting the other called Pepetanga.

Miwa for Njiwa

This was a song originally done by Bwana Mkunaji Willy Paul who featured Nandi in the song Njiwa. This was done for comic purposes as he was doing Comedy story line of ‘How to be Willy Paul”.

The concept was so well done that fans asked for all the songs in the video as singles.

In the video he did Willy Pauls’ songs like Sitolia that he featured Mammito Eunice-Hey Mammito that voice we notice it mama keep it up.

ExtraWajanja

However, we also must acknowledge how he embraces his fellow artists in his videos. For this Eric did a Sol Generation Song Extravaganza changed to Extra wajanja introducing upcoming comedians namely Kartelo and Mulamwah. These two will be a force to reckon within the comedy industry.

Bottom line, with all the success he has received Eric Omondi has managed to stay at the top of his game. What is the secret?Well that is a story for another day. But for now, Hail ooh King of Kenyan Parody!!

Comedian Kartelo shares his hard past: We’ve slept hungry, we’ve slept outside due to lacking rent

Comedian Kartelo has had a tough background while growing up. Speaking in an interview, the comedian confessed that growing up, nothing was promised.

He grew up in a a family of three, all raised by a single mother who could barely make ends meet.

Life was tough on them and had to spent some nights hungry while others they were locked outside the house.

“I grew up with a single mum with three boys and it was tough for us. We’ve slept hungry, we’ve slept outside due to lacking rent, I’ve even gone a year without going to school just because I lacked fees. I respect women because of my mum. With whatever she had, she sustained us,” he said.
