Details from Lilian Ng’ang’a’s analysis of recent celebrity funerals

Lillian Nganga recently shared her perspective on funerals for public figures, explaining that being in the public eye offers insight into how one’s funeral might unfold.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, the mother of one expressed her thoughts, noting that being a public figure provides a glimpse into the process of one’s funeral arrangements.

“Being a public figure gives a glimpse of how their funeral will be,” she stated.

She further elaborated on the sequence of events, highlighting how the media announces the news, followed by people sharing photos and heartfelt messages on social media. Fundraising efforts then ensue, culminating in a large turnout to bid farewell during the burial ceremony.

“Media announces, people post photos you’d taken with them, and texts shared. They post lovely messages on social saying how you were nice, you died too soon, too young, etc. They fundraise, and then come in large numbers to bury you, and that’s life,” she wrote.

Lillian’s remarks came shortly before the burial of late NTV journalist Rita Tinina, scheduled for Wednesday, March 27, at her parents’ home in Noosupeni Farm Olokirikirai.

The memorial mass for Rita was held on Monday at the Holy Family Basilica. She was discovered deceased at her residence in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, on Sunday, March 17th, 2024, after failing to report to work at NTV.

Her cause of death was determined to be severe pneumonia, following an autopsy conducted on Tuesday, March 19.

In addition, TikToker Brian Chira was laid to rest on Tuesday, March 26, in Ingitei village, Githunguri, Kiambu County. His body was retrieved from the Kenyatta University mortuary earlier that morning.

Chira passed away on the morning of Saturday, March 16, 2024.
