A missing KMU student was discovered dead in Meru

The decomposed remains of a 23-year-old university student, who had been reported missing, were discovered in a house in Mathare shopping centre, Imenti North, Meru County.

The deceased was identified as Samuel Gathongo, a student at Kenya Methodist University, who had been missing since February 29. His friends reported his disappearance, and his body was found in his house on March 4, according to the police.

The landlady of the residence where the deceased lived noticed flies coming from the house while removing clothes from a clothesline. The house had been locked for some time. Curious, she peeped through the window and discovered the body hanging with a rope tied around the neck from one of the roof rafters.

The police were alerted, visited the scene, and processed it. The officers later revealed that the body showed no signs of physical injuries. The body was transferred to Meru General Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Although no suicide note was discovered, the police are investigating the circumstances leading to the death.

In a separate incident, an 80-year-old man, Joseph Karuku, was killed in a fire in Nguriunditu village, Kikuyu, Kiambu County. The man, living with a disability, was found in the house after the fire was contained on Sunday. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigation.

In Ndiguini Village in the same area, police are investigating the murder of a 38-year-old man, Evans Macharia, whose body was found lying on the road near his home. The body was also transferred to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigation.

Dispute over a TV results in the death of a woman from Meru County.

A 40-year-old woman was killed in a fight with her ex-boyfriend over a television in Meru County, Kenya. The ex-boyfriend allegedly struck the woman in the head after she attempted to break into his home to sell his belongings. The woman suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene. Meru woman adamant husband died on top of her during sex despite in-laws’ protest

The death of Nicholas Mwithu has split family in Igembe South, Meru county because of the manner in which the deceased departed this life.

Nicholas Mwithu, a miraa trader, died died last week under suspicious circumstances at his house in Itura village. The deceased’s sister Susan Gacheri says Nicholas’ wife called her at 1pm to inform her of her brother’s death.

“I was called by my in-law at about 1pm, she said my brother had just passed on. My brother’s body was in the sitting room with a towel around his waist. I was not convinced with what his wife told me,” said Nicholas’ sister, Susan Gacheri.

Death during lovemaking session

Nicholas’ wife maintains that her husband died during steamy sex in the in the living room. She explains that her husband returned home and asked for a cup of tea before he later asked her to warm some water for him to take a shower.

However before Nicholas could bath, he demanded a single shot in the sitting room, and he died while in the process of munching her.

“I had sex with my husband and in the process I realised he was no more,” said Nicholas’ wife.

Relatives however rubbish her claim suspecting their was foul play in their kin’s death. Post-mortem result will determine what exactly happened to Nicholas.
