Artists Msanii Foreman and David Wonder clearly Understood the Assignment!

There is a special generation of gospel artists that brought cool vibes. Gospel lost the austere, reprimanding tone to a danceable presentation that spilled over to funky school fests and TikTok challenges.

These artists include, amongst others – Bahati, Mr. Seed, Kelele Takatifu, Nimo Gachuiri, Msanii Foreman, Moji Short Babaa and my all time favorite – David Wonder.

Gospel artist Msanii Foreman

Gospel artists in Kenya have increasingly played rope with the fine line that splits gospel and secular – as fame and fortune grows. Not David Wonder.

The likeable, stylish artist with an endearing ‘little brother’ mien has managed a clean, scandal-free run and a string of hits that has cemented his name in the industry.

Who doesn’t remember the ageless hit ‘Ndogo Ndogo’ that featured David Wonder alongside Bahati?

Well, fast forward to 2024, he now features in a brand new hit by US-based Kenyan gospel artist Msanii Foreman, dubbed ‘Leo‘.

It’s a fresh offering by established Producer Sean on The Beat that’s set to cause a stir in an industry that has lately become quite lukewarm.

Leo‘ is a beautiful fusion of two artists with completely different styles. Msanii Foreman is versatile, either a rapper with that punchy, deep baritone or a capable singer who’d easily croon over bridges and choruses.

David Wonder brings his trademark vocals, that waltz over the keys in a very complimentary way.

The artist’s effortless chemistry results in a beautiful offering with danceable beats and easy, sing-along lyrics.

The ‘Leo‘ video is directed by DiDy – it does not disappoint, either. The director has nailed the basics – from concept visualization and location, to lighting that brings high, resolution coverage.

The beauty, though – is in perfomance. The artist’s performance is in perfect sync with the song’s theme and intended message – ‘Leo’.

Kenyan Gospel artist David Wonder

It’s only the beginning, but it highly seems like we found the Gospel Song of The Year. I’ll keep my fingers crossed, and would easily pick on ‘Leo‘.

Msanii Foreman and David Wonder clearly understood the assignment. I’d say they delivered.

Kenyan artist leaves mark on Country Music scene with a Soul-stirring Gospel Hit

Country music endears for its timelessness, authenticity, innovation and cultural significance.

The genre boasts universal themes around love, freedom and social justice. Country music’s deepest touch, though – comes along with gospel music.

Locally, various musicians have achieved various levels of success. Granted, Mugithi is the native country music variety, right? Its common in outdoor and themed-night live band settings and performances.

Msanii Foreman has dropped a soul-stirring country-themed gem titled ‘Lord, Thank You‘ that draws inspiration from the legendary Kenny Rogers’ classic ‘The Gambler’.

The versatile US-based Kenyan artist skillfully delivers an heartfelt rendition infused with an almost-tangible spiritual depth.

The first notes of ‘Lord, Thank You’ showcase a fine mastery of the guitar. It shines through to set the tone for a melodious journey filled with warmth and gratitude.

The country-inspired instrumentation coupled with soulful vocals creates a tranquil atmosphere that uplifts with a message of thanksgiving.

The lyrics are relatable, simple and sincere. Easy sing-along lyrics whose core message is gratitude and faith.

The genuine appreciation for life’s blessings and an acknowledgement of a divine providence that guides our path transcends borders and cultures.

The video is directed by Ona Tena, the brains behind Ona Tena Media.

It’s a work of visual art that captures the rugged Texan countryside of cowboys, horses and the signature cowboy hats juxtaposed with Msanii Foreman’s East African roots.

The seamless integration of culture adds depth to the narrative and universality of music.
I’d be glad to see a remix or a medley that features other artists, especially female vocals on the bridge and chorus.

Lord, Thank You‘ is a beautiful addition to the world of praise and worship, and a positive tag in the timeless power of music that uplifts and unites souls in harmony.

Well done, cowboy. Sample it here:

Kenyan Artist cancels Red-carpet Gala to Feed the Homeless in Arizona, US.

Brand Kenya grows as personal exploits by Kenyans living in the diaspora keep filling pages in history books.

This past weekend, US-based Kenyan singer Msanii Foreman led a group of musical peers and associates in a charity drive seeking to uplift lives of the homeless, in Arizona.

This charity drive was a celebration to mark the success and first anniversary of Arizona Swahili Radio – a flagship project and one of it’s kind online radio founded by Msanii Foreman in 21st May 2021.

This is unique. It serves heavy contrast to red-carpet fanfare events common in the media and entertainment circles. It’s a reflection of humility borne of humble beginnings, and innate desire by the Kenyan artist to uplift lives of the less-fortunate.

Arizona is hard hit, with homeless people statistics rising, exacerbated by Covid-19 pandemic.

In the 21st May event, Msanii Foreman was accompanied by celebrities and fellow artists. Monique Hasbun, the star singer currently riding high with her banger Latin Mona Lisa was there, accompanied by her mum.
Unconfirmed rumors branded the two artists as lovebirds.

Also present was South African artist Moabi Kotu – who’s featured heavily on Amapiano concerts.

Phoebe Njeri, aka Sherrie Bunnie – one of Arizona Swahili Radio top rated presenters running the popular Sunday Skul Edition program and public personality Bilha Biyaki.

The raisin in the event’s pudding – excuse the pun – came from Pizza Heaven Bistro Phoenix who donated assorted foodstuff. This is a local fast food franchise in Arizona.

Besides foodstuff, the homeless people received bundles of warm clothing and sneakers, some on designer level.

These items were collected in a local church after Msanii Foreman lobbied for community involved in the charity drive.

The artist is a member of the church and has previously held Arizona Swahili Radio awards. This is a youth initiative that builds and mentors youth gifted in performing arts.

In an interview, Msanii Foreman says:

At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or accomplished. It’s about who you’ve lifted, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.

Is Msanii Foreman’s near-perfect chemistry in the new video – Cherie – with stunning Ethiopian model Milka Shlemon a glimpse into a likely budding relationship?

Well, there’s a new social status in regards to getting hitched.

There’s the usual categories: Dating. Single. Married. Complicated. Divorced.

Then, there’s a new one: Living in Nairobi.

Yes, living in Nairobi is a status – just a rung after ‘divorced’.

Other than narrowing it down to Nairobi and her men, it seems to be a thing with Kenyan men all round – whether in Nairobi or across the world. The diaspora is teeming with successful Kenyan men hesitant to tie the notch.

In the music (showbiz) industry, fans keenly follow the celebrities. It gets confusing pretty fast. In a world surrounded by striking beauties, how does an artist make a choice – or, better, still – why doesn’t an artist make a choice?

For instance, US-based Kenyan artist Msanii Foreman.

This is an established composer, artist and performer based in Arizona, USA.

Msanii Foreman has featured locally in gender-driven charity and FGM awareness campaigns in the past decade. He’s released a string of club bangers, featuring gifted artists from diverse backgrounds across the globe.

Thing is, despite perfect chemistry on and off the set with the Fem-Cee’s, Msanii Foreman is hesitant to pursue a social angle beyond the stage, or, if he has, largely keeps off mainstream media.

Msanii Foreman has a couple of remarkable releases, like Africa – a track that pays homage to his homeland – featuring Faith Stan, G-Bana and Flex Muziki. He’s also considerably ruled the radio airwaves with the popular hit, Sexy Body featuring La Irene – with an awesomely choreographed video.

Msanii’s latest project involves a dazzling, US-based Ethiopian model with a string of runway titles under her belt – Milka Shlemon.

Milka Shlemon has made a name on the modelling stage. She’s best known for her work with Africa Fest USA which is an independent Collaborative of Professionals for advancement of African culture, and, natural Afro hair.

She currently ranks in the “Top 50” models in the universal fashion industry.

Msanii Foreman’s latest release is already trending as a club banger – Cherie – that features Milka Shlemon, blending in perfect harmony – smooth vocals and awesome video choreography.

Cherie is a narrative crafted in Swahili, telling a story of infatuation, love and romance.

Speaking of love and romance, Milka Shlemon and Msanii Foreman bond effortlessly – shouldn’t that be the cue for the Kenyan artist to make moves and settle once and for all?

Here’s the link to Cherie, take a swing and give an opinion. The video: A hit or a miss?

US-based Kenyan artist Msanii Foreman launches a Swahili Radio Station and sensationally debuts the annual BY2C Awards Event in Arizona, USA

For a performing artist aiming to make a mark in the diaspora, its candid to admit that the United States is a hard, unkind place to be.

All the celebrity pomp and glitz that fans adore and follow religiously is a culmination of sleepless nights, blood, sweat and tears. It never comes easy, even the industry basics like networking through collaborations or mentorship take a while to hold ground.
