KICC managing director Nana Gecaga recently celebrated almost 2 decades of an alcohol free life. Nana, who is related to Uhuru Kenyatta, was an alcoholic and even confessed that it almost ruined her life.
It seems she has more reason to celebrate yet again after she was elected deputy chairperson of the International Congress and Convention Association–African chapter for a two-year term.
ICCA, an international body representing the world’s leading suppliers in handling, transporting and accommodating international meetings and events, has at least 1,100-member companies and organisations worldwide.
“Key will be to showcase Kenya and the continent’s capabilities to host large conferences and events. Africa is ready to do business with the world. With the right in-country partnerships, member countries are able to host major events, and as ICCA-Africa chapter, we will work to ensure we raise this profile,” she said.
Nana Gecaga opened up about her past alcohol addiction during an interview on Churchill Show. The 40-year old revealed that she used to drink used to drink up one crate of beer in one sitting every day.
Nana further reveals that she decided to quit drinking to ‘get her life back’. She says giving up the drink is the biggest challenge she has ever had in her life.
She says that she quit drinking when she was 21. Nana discloses that it was her decision to quit drinking even though she received support.
“The one thing I can actually say to them is, tomorrow is another day and try to live or get to that day and never to ashamed or to proud to ask for support, Kenya has a lot of support and use it,” said Nana Gacaga.
