Things can only get better for Naiboi from here

Kenyan singer Michael Clevar Odhiambo, alias Naiboi, has really come a long way. He is proof that sheer willpower and perseverance can take you from the bottom of the pie the top.

He made his debut in the local music industry in 2003 as Rapdamu but only came to be recognised in 2017 when he released Problem. That is 14 years of nothing but diligence and hardwork.

The Pacho Records founder doubled up as a producer and musician until five years ago when he decided to focus on one craft; music. He hired a couple of music producers to help him at his studio as he shifted his focus to becoming a household name.

This transition saw him ditch the name Rapdamu for Naiboi which he says was inspired by the need to fight for the Kenyan sound at a time when Nigerian music had taken place over local radio stations.

He released a couple of songs after his metamorphosis. Some of them include; Too Much, Smooth Criminal, Kidege, 4Mulla, I Wanna Be, Ding Dong and Dinda. However, none of these songs received massive airplay like 2 in 1.

2 in 1 was the biggest song in 2018 until King Kaka, Kristoff and Magix Enga released Dundaing and narrowly edged out Naiboi at the Pulse Music Video Awards (PMVA).

Before we wrapped up the year, Naiboi dropped another joint dubbed Usipime Mwanaume. As expected, the song was received well by his fans.

A few days ago, he released a new collabo with Kristoff titled Somaga and as is the norm, the song is getting massive airplay. This goes to show that things can only get better for him. Naiboi is a point where anything that he touches turns into gold. Quite literally!

Listen to Somaga below and tell us what you think.
