Wizkid Unfollows Celebrities on Instagram, Fans Speculate

Nigerian music star Wizkid has unfollowed every celebrity on his Instagram account, except for Naira Marley. The sudden move has left fans wondering what could have prompted the singer to take such a drastic step.

Some fans have speculated that Wizkid is trying to distance himself from the celebrity lifestyle. Others have suggested that he is unhappy with the way the music industry is currently operating. Still others believe that he is simply trying to clean up his social media presence.

Whatever the reason, Wizkid’s decision has certainly generated a lot of buzz online. It remains to be seen whether he will ever explain his actions, but for now, fans will have to continue to speculate.

This is not the first time that Wizkid has made headlines for his Instagram activity. In 2019, he deleted all of his posts from the platform, leaving his account blank. He later explained that he was taking a break from social media to focus on his music.

It is possible that Wizkid’s latest move is also related to his music. He is currently working on his next album, and he may be trying to create a fresh start for himself. Whatever the reason, it is clear that Wizkid is not afraid to shake things up.

Fans will be eagerly awaiting any updates from Wizkid about his decision to unfollow celebrities on Instagram. In the meantime, they can continue to enjoy his music and support his career.

Many Kenyan artists can’t compete on the international stage

If you are keen, I’m pretty sure you’ve noticed that the Western world, especially America, has started paying a lot of attention to music that is coming out of Africa. It  almost seems like they had a sudden awakening.

Artists from countries like South Africa, Ghana, Nigeria have not only sold out shows in the US, they have also landed collabos with some of the biggest music acts such as Drake, Beyonce, Chris Brown, just to name a few.

Also read: New-age musicians are giving established artists nightmares!

By any standards, this is commendable. It proves that African music (in general) is heading in the right direction. What, however, saddens me is the fact that Kenyan  musicians are lagging behind. It’s just what it is ladies and gentlemen.

The painful truth is that we have little or nothing to offer, musically speaking and that’s why when you hear a Kenyan artist saying that he or she dreams of winning a Grammy Award someday, you just burst out in laughter because it’s an impossible feat.

You see, the kind of music that is very popular (locally) at the moment can not go beyond our borders for so many reasons. In as much as Kenyans appreciate the new-age music and musicians, I’m sure even our neighbours Ugandan or Tanzania don’t listen to Lamba Lolo, Wamlambez and the likes.

I often ask myself, “What’s the point if our artists make music that can only be consumed locally?” I’m sure they all want to achieve great feats and be recognized for their work on global or continental stages but the question is how will it happen?

Ochunglo Family
Ochunglo Family

Every time I see the likes of Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido and the likes performing to foreign audiences or featuring the biggest musical acts in their songs I always feel jealous because I known it will take our artists a long time to achieve such success.

Kenyan musicians need to sit down and re-evaluate their strategies because they are capable of making good music that can be enjoyed by international audiences, especially now that the Western world is paying close attention to African music.

Is Khaligraph Jones starting to lose touch with his fans?

For starters, let me state that I have immense respect for Brian Ouko Omollo, better known to as Khaligraph Jones, but of late I’ve not been impressed with his music. I feel like he is starting to lose touch with his fans.

Also read: Put some respect on Khaligraph’s name

I know you now think that I don’t know what  I am even saying but you should give me some time to explain myself and maybe, just maybe you’ll see some logic in my line of thinking.

Khaligraph Jones

The Khaligraph Jones that we all used to know used to make music for the hood but this ‘new’ version does not even care because it seems like all he is really after is to appeal to international audiences.

I get it the fact that an artist has to grow and that explains why Papa Jones is using kizungu mingi in his songs these days but look at big West African acts like Burna Boy, Wiz Kid or Davido. They all sing in their native languages.

Khaligraph Jones

To be honest, I used to enjoy the old version o Khaligraph that used to flow in Sheng, Swahili and a bit of English, I don’t know but I never listen to his songs that are in pure English more than once.

Maybe you see it differently and it is okay to have a different perspective because at the end of the day, we can’t all think in the same exact way, can we?

Wizkid links up with Blaq Jerzee on new banger ‘Arizona’ (Video)

Nigerian hitmaker Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has dropped a new jam with his country mate Blaq Jerzee and it’s a big tune.

The track titled Arizona has been ruling the airwaves since it came out a few days ago and it’s not hard to understand why. Put simply, this song is really infectious.

If you have been feeling down lately, then you should listen to this jam because it gives off good vibes so much so that you might even forget about what’s troubling you.

Wizkid and Blaq Jerzee

Basically, Arizona is about how the artists feel about this world, hustling to make ends meet and ladies, because what is the world without them, and living a good life at the end of the day.

Like I said, this jam sounds so pleasant to the ears and if you are like me, you won’t bother with what they are saying because this is not the kind of song that you listen to for a message, it’s feel good music.

Both artists sound impeccable in this song and to be honest, people like me listen to Nigerian songs because we think the Youruba and Pidgin in them sounds dope, it sort of spices things up.

Notably, Arizona is also well arranged in that it just flows as you listen to it and nothing seems forced or out of place and that is what many people look for in a jam.

Wizkid

The beat and instrumentation is dope. Other than the fact that they are catchy, I am sure after listening to it, you will agree with me that they blend well with the artists’ styles and tempo.

I also loved the video for this jam, it’s simple but on point. It shows Blaq Jerzee and Wizkid navigating sand dunes on quad bikes which aligns themes of the song itself—hustling, chasing money and getting high.

Wizkid’s new jam with Blaq Jerzee and StarBoy dubbed ‘Blow’ is a big tune (Video)

Award-winning Nigerian singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has dropped a new track with Blaq Jerzee and StarBoy and we are really vibing to it.

The song dubbed Blow, which is from StarBoy’s recently released Extended Play (EP) Soundman 1 has been getting massive airplay since it came out a few days ago.

Maybe you can tell from the title, maybe you can’t but the song some has sexual connotation which means that if you are a prude you probably should not listen to it because they are talking about giving head.

That said, I really love this jam. It’s totally worth your time if you are the kind of person who appreciates good music and/or love Wizkid and StarBoy.

Wizkid
Wizkid

The sound is very decent which is something that is kind of synonymous with Nigerian music. One of the things that I really loved, however, is the trumpet that was incorporated in the beat. It’s really dope guys!

To be honest, there is nothing much to say about the lyricism since it sounds too repetitive and barely makes sense but since that is something that is common with many songs, we’ll just let is slide.

I don’t know why but I felt like the video was too ordinary. Wizkid and StarBoy usually have dope standards that we kind of expect from them in every subsequent release but I felt they let us down in this one.

Wizkid reveals how he spends his millions

Wizkid was in Kenya to perform at the inaugural Katika Festival which was held on Saturday November 3rd at the Afraha Stadium.

The Nigerian singer opened up about how he spends his million during a press interview before the show in Nakuru. He revealed that he spends large chunk of his money to help the poor.

The ‘Soco’ hit maker said that he funds schools for children from poor background. He reminded journalists that he dedicated revenue from his deal with Nike to funding his philanthropic projects.

“Am not the type that wants anyone to know. I don’t care if you know or not, I don’t care if anyone knows or not… I send kids to school, I do a lot of stuff that I don’t even put in the news. I don’t gain anything from that, am just doing it from my heart because I believe in helping people and just being around and doing stuff in society. That why when I did the Nike deal I tweeted and I said I was going to use my revenue from that to build schools around Africa. Just like having affordable education, like free school for kids. That’s the best way you can empower your generation, you cannot empower your generation through social media and all that stuff. Giving them the first tool which is education, that would do a whole lot for a generation in total. For me that’s my goal to do that,” said Wizkid.

Politics

Asked whether he will be joining politics since he loves to help people, Wizkid said he hadn’t thought about being a politician anytime time soon even though he is not totally opposed to the idea.

“For me for politics I don’t think I would love to be involved or support anyone. Have not really thought about me going in that direction, maybe when am older,” said Wizkid.
