The head of Lesedi Developers was detained again after leaving Thika court

On October 25, 2023, police arrested Geoffrey Kahungi Kiragu, the founder of Lesedi Developers Limited, moments after he left the Thika Magistrate’s Court. Kiragu is facing 12 charges of defrauding land buyers of Sh5.47 million.

According to the charge sheet, Kiragu used his position as CEO of Lesedi Developers to defraud and collect money from land buyers with no intention of actually handing over the land. He has denied all allegations against him.

Kiragu was taken to Nairobi’s Central Police Station before being transferred to Kangema County in Murang’a. His arrest is believed to be linked to alleged fake land deals in which he is accused of defrauding land buyers of millions of shillings.

Kiragu is currently free on Sh5 million bail with a surety in the same amount, or the option of paying a cash bail of Sh5 million.
