Tributes, condolences pour in following death of Kenya’s strongest man Tiger Power

Conrad Njeru Karukenya, popularly known as Tiger Power, is no more. The stuntman who was dubbed ‘Kenya’s strongest man’ died on Tuesday night January 2nd 2019.

Tiger Power was known for his extraordinary stunts such as breaking nail with his teeth, being run over by a Land Rover, carrying crates of beer with his teeth etc.

His extraordinary talent took him all over the world, in 2008 he received Head of State Commendation for his 48 years of dedicated weightlifting.

Ailments

Tiger Power took a break from performing his risky stunts in 2015 when he started falling sick. He had kidney failure, lung and heart complications.

Tiger died on Tuesday night while receiving treatment at Consolota Mission Hospital in Kyeni, Embu County. He was 72 at the time of his death.

Tributes, condolences have been pouring in since news broke about his death, comedian Otoyo and Dennis Itumbi are among celebs who eulogized Tiger Power in their posts on social media.

“Conrad Njeru Karukenya AKA, Tiger Power is no more. You entertained us with your life. I watched you at the Show Ground (A.S.K back in the day) and twice or thrice at our village primary school where we paid 5/= per pupil to watch you. You were larger than life. Rest in peace Tiger,” wrote Otoyo.

“Conrad Njeru Karukenya, HSC – AKA, Tiger Power, rest well.  May your family be strengthened.  You entertained us with your life, I will treasure the many times I saw you in action as a child & later as a News Correspondent in Embu. Asante sana. Safari salama,” wrote Dennis Itumbi.
