Kenyan Journalists to Dominate in Continental Awards

Having featured and shinned in other international awards before, Kenya journalist will certainly dominate at the prestigious CNN MultiChoice African Journalist 2014 Awards as a whopping seven Journalist have been shortlisted among the finalists.

It payback time for Kenya as Africa most populous nation Nigeria and continental powerhouse South Africa have four and three finalists respectively. They might out-shine Kenya in music and film industry but in journalism, they certainly will have to be on the trail Kenyan shadow. The seven Kenyan finalists are: Patrick Mayoyo, Daily Nation, Joseph Mathenge, Freelance for The Saturday Nation, Anne Mawathe and Rashid Ibrahim, Citizen TV, Christine Muthee and Oliver Oscar Ochanda, Media Development in Africa (MEDEVA), John Muchangi Njiru, The Star Newspaper, Bob Koigi, Farmbizafrica.com, and Evelyn Watta, Sportsnewsarena.com, Kenya.

The finalists will enjoy an all-expense paid four day programme of workshops, media forums and networking in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania culminating in a Gala Award Ceremony on Saturday 18 October 2014. It was good work for the Kenyans as this year’s competition received entries from 38 countries across the continent, including French and Portuguese speaking African states.
