Kenya’s Best Matatu To Be Awarded This Weekend

Grip ventures Kenya Ltd in collaboration with various stakeholders in the PSV industry including Evolution Media and Safaricom has organized the second edition of the PSV Motor Show & Awards.

Bassil, who is the road safety ambassador, will be at the event to perform. Check out his track, Fika Salama, below. The song was produced at Evolution Media. Also performing at the event will be comedian Obinna and MC OJ of Tahidi High.

The initiative is a twofold event that entails a motor show, which is a showcase of the different elements of the unique Kenyan Matatu culture, popular among the youth, in a positive way, and the award ceremony that entails the public selecting the best PSVs and personnel.

The public voting is through SMS. The voting process shall be guided by compliance to traffic rules and regulations, road safety, commuter comfort and positive message to the public (youth).
 
The categories to be voted for are:

Best CBD bus operator
Best Vuma Psv of the Year
Best  11-Seater luxury Shuttle
Best  14-Seater Matatu
Best  29-Seater Matatu
Best 50+ Seater Psv
Best Up country plying bus
Best Coast plying buses
Best East Africa connection bus
Best Traffic police officer
Best Driver and Conductor
Best Organized Sacco
Best  Psv Crew
BEST Psv compliant to road Safety
Best  Matatu Graffiti Auto Garage
Best Nairobi Route
Best Overall- Kenya One

The winners in each category are then selected and awarded at the event venue to be held on 24th November 2013 at the KICC grounds. The voting process will run exclusively through Safaricom line.

The event activities shall include:
Performances by various artistes
Road safety march by participating PSVs and personnel
First aid demonstrations and donation of blood
Speeches and testimonies from road accident  survivors
Road safety sensitization drives
Award ceremony  for winners in each category    
Motor show and exhibitions
Music entertainment by Evolution Sounds
Graffiti demonstrations
Hood to hood battles
