Kenya’s First Ever Photo Marathon Announces Prizes to Be Won

Hundreds of amateur, professional, closet or first time photographers will converge in Nairobi to usher in and take part in the first edition of the Kenya Photo Marathon sponsored by leading electronics company, Samsung, set to be held on the 2nd of March with the Professional Center being the start point and headquarters.

Participants will scour the precincts of the Nairobi CBD to capture, create, interpret photographic moments in a challenge like never been seen before exposing the beauty that is the Nairobi city. They stand to win great prizes including two top end digital cameras, Samsung Galaxy Camera and Samsung Galaxy NX1000 among other exciting prizes.

The Kenya Photo Marathon is open to anyone with a passion for photography i.e. professional, semi professional, amateurs and hobbyist’s using digital point & shoot cameras or any type of digital camera (no phone cameras on the day). The photographers will make their way from the Kenya Photo Marathon headquarters in search of great moments to capture and interpret the secret topics/themes that will be handed to them prior to the official start of the Kenya Photo Marathon.

Beginning at 10.00 a.m., four of the secret eight themes will be handed to all participants before they line up in a mock road race marathon start set up. Then for four hours they must interpret and capture each theme with one single exposure in the exact sequence that they were revealed. Once the clock strikes 2.00 p.m., there will be a break then at 3.00 p.m. collect the next and final four topics/themes and move on to the next stage of the challenge.

Samsung will be at hand to sensitize photographers on the amazing new technology in digital photography using their smart tablets that will be on show at the venue of the event. By 6.00 p.m., participants will be expected to be back and then the pictures will be printed and judged by a top professional photographer judge from the industry. After the marathon, the judges will take several days and select the winning photos. The results will then be showcased at a public exhibition where all photos will be displayed. The winning entries will be announced and celebrated.

Kenya Photo Marathon is open to anyone with a digital camera. Registration is Kshs. 1,000 and you can register at the venue between 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. and the event kicks off at 10.00 a.m.
