Meet Kenya’s Youngest Media Owner

At just 28, Sam Gitonga has achieved what would be envied by most of his peers.

Born and raised in Nyahururu, this young man has managed to scale obstacles and set up one of the fastest growing radio stations in Kenya. His passion for radio began when he was working as a manager at the Heroes of the Nation Orphanage in Nyahururu which his father had established.

He attended Griffith University in Australia where he completed studies in Business Management. He came back home in 2010 and decided to set up Hero Radio 99.0 FM Nakuru.

After facing a difficult time in getting licensed and a frequency, he finally made it through. He accredits his success to God and a team which has been committed to his vision and dream.

Hero Radio is currently organizing the official Prinsloo 7s Kibao Afterparty. The event takes place on Saturday, August 31st from 6.00 p.m. On the decks till dawn will be DJ Spyx, DJ Willie, DJ Lean, MC Branu, DJ Moz and DJ Jeff. The event was sponsored by Kenya Wine Agencies Limited, Hero FM and Club Signature. Entry is Kshs. 200, which guarantees you a bottle of Kibao Vodka.
