Metallica’s Legacy Now Coming To The Big Screen

Metallica is an American band that has been making records for the last 30 years. And finally, the eight-time Grammy Award-winning band’s music is about to go to the big screen.

Metallica is made up of Kirk Hammett, James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo. The heavy metal band has shed some members over the course of their career in the name of Ron McGovney, Dave Mustaine, Cliff Burton and Jason Newsted.

Their place in music history and contributions to thrash metal in particular has seen them gain recognition as one of the Big Four metal bands alongside Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth.

And they have left a lot in the wake of their 32-year legacy: nine studio albums, four live albums, five EPs, 25 music videos and 37 singles. They were the first band to debut five consecutive albums at number one on the Billboard 200.

The band’s 1991 album has sold 16 million copies to date, making it the biggest selling album of the SoundScan era, with the bands total sales crossing the $100 million mark.

The legacy that they have put together over the last three decades is now being brought to life on the big screen. As if that’s not good enough news, the big adapatation will be viewed in glorious IMAX 3-D, the best medium to portray the surreal imagery created by the band’s discography.

The IMAX release of Metallica Through the Never was digitally re-mastered into the image and sound quality of an IMAX 3D Experience. The crystal-clear images and IMAX’s customized theatre geometry and powerful digital audio create a unique environment that will make audiences feel as if they are in the movie.

Catch Metallica Through the Never when it premiers at IMAX on Mama Ngina Street this Friday, 4th October.
