MP Calls Out Blogger; Tells Him to Burn in Hell

The “blogosphere” is the new buzz word that has replaced “information super highway.” However, in the art of ‘blogging bloggity’ there are bound to be head-on collisions. One such fender-bender was witnessed recently when a blogger and a politician clashed.

Kandara MP, Alice Wahome, took a swipe at Mzalendo (a blog with a keen eye on the Parliament) for ‘reporting fake non-existent Parliamentary appearances’. The disgruntled legislator couldn’t do it better than conveying the message on her Facebook timeline.

“You are reporting fake non existence parliamentary appearances. Misleading innocent public is criminal. You should burn in hell.”

Mzalendo (‘Patriot’ in Swahili) is a non-partisan project started in 2005 whose mission is to ‘keep an eye on the Kenyan parliament.’ Mzalendo site seeks to promote greater public voice and enhance public participation in politics by providing relevant information about the National Assembly’s activities, MPs, and aspirants ahead of the 2013 elections.

Fellow bloggers felt that the MP’s statement is a threat that warrants a crime.
