Falz Explains why most Nigerian Music are Lacking in Lyrical Content

It is no lie that Nigerian songs are very danceable as they always resonate in good rhythm that are often perfectly fit for the dancehall but are unfortunately lacking in content.

In a recent interview, actor and singer Folarin Falana explains why most Nigerian musicians don’t pay attention to lyrical content as opposed to the attention they give to the rhythm of their songs.

He stated that musicians are concerned about rhythm because Nigerians are more attracted to danceable songs. Nigerians want to dance he said. He however posit that he, unlike the others still pay attention to his lyrics.

It is correct to say that a lot of artists are not concerned about lyrical content because they know that the Nigerian people just want to dance. However, a few musicians still pay attention to lyrical content. I personally pay a lot of attention to that.

Music shouldn’t be about the beats alone. Good music is a good blend of everything – good beat, good message and nice melody.” The singer told News Agency of Nigeria.
