Owen Gee opens up on the hard times he went through in 2017.

Popular comedian, Owen Gee has revealed that he went through depression last year. According to the comedian, there was no pill he didn’t take in his fight against depression. It was then, he found out that no medication calms depression. He made this known at the suicide prevention initiative, Live and Not Die.

He stated that he had ventured into several ‘things’ that didn’t work out, this was the reason why he was thrown into anxiety and depression.

His words below;

I have had suicidal tendencies. Last year, I tried several things, but they did not work out. It was not because the ideas were bad, but the people I was working with just didn’t let them work out. Then anxiety and depression set in.

It was then I realised that no drug could calm depression. There was hardly anyone I didn’t take. There was a time I was sleeping on drugs.

There was a particular yellow tablet that, if I took it on Tuesday, on Wednesday I would only be prompted to barely wake up, eat and go back to sleep even before I finished eating. I would not wake up until Thursday.

The initiative’s convener, Kunle Pelemo stated that the idea came to him after he had helped his friend through suicidal thoughts. He said LAND is aimed at achieving a suicide free society.
