I Need an Incentive Other than Money to Break my Guinness Record- Kaffy

Nigeria’s foremost dancer, Kafayat Shafau-Ameh, also known as Kaffy and fondly called the dance queen gives conditions to attempt breaking her Guinness record.

Kaffy, who is mostly known to have broken the Guinness World Record for Longest Dance Party at the Nokia Silverbird Danceathon in 2006 remains one of the best dancers of all times.

In an interview with Punch Newspaper, the singer disclosed that she almost died when she took up the challenge to beat the Guinness World Record thus for her to go back to attempt something that almost took her life, the bet has to be more than money.

“Yes, if my son is dying and the doctors say doing so is the only way he would survive. Joking apart, I may need an incentive that is bigger than money to do that again. At the time I did it, dance was not popular and Nigeria was getting bad press. I had reasons to nearly die for something, and I almost died. It was not funny and it took me a long time to recover,” she said.

She recalled that the challenge was during Ramadan so she only fasted once.

“While the competition was going on, people were collapsing. I did not want to lose any member of my team and I did not know their fitness levels. We introduced dance competitions and other things to stay busy. The moment you take a break, the judges give only a few seconds to either continue or leave,” She concluded.
