Popular Rapper Comes Out in Defense of the Draconian Media Bill!

The media fraternity has vowed to fight tooth and nail to reject the draconian Kenya Information and Communication Amendment Bill approved by Parliament. However, despite the assurance from President Uhuru that he will return the contentious Media Bill to Parliament when he officially receives it, a popular rapper has come out to ask the President to append his signature.

He refers to himself as the digital artist and brags for being the first Kenyan musician to sell an album in an international online store. He’s Influx Swagga.

According to him, the Bill partly solves the problems he had stated in his letter to the 10th Parliament. The media will be forced to play 45 percent of locally produced content and more Kenyan artistes will be given the chance to be heard.

In an interview with his manager, he said that he has been in the entertainment industry for long enough and the industry requires no more content but policies that would be fruitful. “We have reached the Saitoti’s point when he made the famous quote that Kenya is more important that an individual. I am beyond personal interests and I want other artistes to benefit, those who are here today and those who will come.” He added.

Influx has allegedly sent in more suggestions to have the Bill incorporate the intellectual property Bill which is in the making to counter piracy and idea theft. He has also proposed an additional 15% content to the agreed 45% Content to make it 60%.

Do you agree with him?
