Lives we lost in 2017

It is always a sad affair to lose a life. It becomes harder if you personally knew the person who has just passed on.

This year has seen celebrities pass on, and although we all know we are going to die someday, we are never prepared for death.

Lundi Tyamara

He touched many hearts with his beautiful voice and inspiring gospel music. After a battle with Stomach TB, he sadly passed on 27 January.

Robbie Malinga

After being diagnosed with anemia, his health took a nose dive. It was however later revealed that he was getting better. His determination, saw him through. Sadly, he died on Christmas day. The cause of his death is yet to be established. He was set to collaborate with other musicians, before his untimely death. 

Michelle Molatlou

The former Miss Black South Africa died early this month, after a long battle with cervical cancer. Michelle was the last Miss Black South Africa before the pageant was discontinued in 1993. Her last big acting appearance was on Generations, in November last year.

Dumi Masilela

His death came as a surprise to many. Dumi was shot during a botched hijacking. He later succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment in hospital. As hard as his death was on his wife Simphiwe, she has tried to pick up the pieces little by little.

Hugh Hefner

Hugh died in September, at the age of 91. He was well known for creating Playboy magazine and making it into a media and entertainment industry giant.
