Moruti Mthalane delighted to be in IBF flyweight title

Moruti Mthalane is delighted at being given the opportunity to fight in the vacant IBF flyweight title.

The tournament will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 15th July. It will jointly be staged by Manny Pacquiao, Golden Boy and Top Rank promotions.

Mthalane, who is 35 years old, has been rated number three. He once held the IBF belt, but relinquished it in 2014. He fought his way to the top ratings by winning the IBF last year.

“I am so excited,” he said yesterday. “What is left for me is to prepare well and win.

“The fact that I will be in the same ring as Manny Pacquiao makes me feel so pumped. I will do my best to win but it all begins with my preparations. For now I am training lightly – something that I always do to keep fit – but I will start training harder in May because the fight will take place in July. I don’t want to go hard now because there is still enough time.”
