The story of Solomon Mahlangu coming to TV

This heritage month is all about remembering South Africa’s struggle heroes.

The movie Kalushi, which according to SABC 1 will be a first to air on television, will be starring Thabo Rametsi who plays Solomon Mahlangu.

Mzansi’s television viewers will have the first opportunity to watch it if they didn’t get a chance to do so in the cinemas, when it was released in March.

The movie is about a 19-year old hawker, Solomon Mahlangu, who hails from the streets of Mmamelodi, Pretoria. After he is brutally beaten by police, he goes to exile. He later returns to join the liberation movement.

When he returns from military training in Angola, he is sentenced to death by hanging.

The film’s cast include Pearl Thusi, Dr Gcina Mhlophe, Jafta Mamabolo and Welile Nzunza among others.

The movie premieres on Sunday, at 2130hrs.
