Khanyi Mbau features in Distruction Boyz new single (Video)

Well its seem we have to no longer  wait for the music video of the Distruction Boyz new single.

Distruction Boyz had earlier posted a statement saying they had to delay the release of the video .

Here is the Distruction Boyz statement

We would like to apologize to all the fans and supporters but it is with great sadness that the music video will have another delay again and will not come out today as scheduled.

Reason being KHANYI MBAU is complaining that the video does not represent her looks accordingly. She complained about have shades being TOO DARK and this conflicts with her brands that sponsor her looks. To be honest we feel like she looks very pretty in the original shade used by video editors.
We respect her decision of sending the video back to editors because we understand she’s a very premium brand and her image is very important to her.
The only problem is time, already the video is super late and people are running out of patience because of the popularity of the song. We are losing out of airplay and TV channels are fighting with us. If we could reshoot the video, we would but we cant because Khanyi Mbau is one of the highlights.
Only God knows konke kusezandleni zakhe??? #AnotherDelay#AnotherWeekNoVideo #YellowboneProblems #OmunyeVideo

Well it seems they have settled down their differences and the video was finally released.

Khanyi Mbau set to star in a new show

Khanyi Mbau, award-winning actor and choreographer Khabonina Qubeka, rising Idols star Gugu Zulu, and up-coming rapper Mandisa Nduna are among the South Africans named to star in ‘She is King’, the new film by Gersh Kgamedi.

The film is filled with remarkable female characters across different generations because we wanted to show a diversity of female experiences,” said producer Nicola Rauch.

The film is based against the glossy backdrop of the City of Gold as the Broadway of Africa, and tells the story of Khanyisile (Zulu), a talented singer, dancer and actoress who wants to be a star.

She travels from her home in Nongoma, KwaZulu-Natal, to audition for a new musical to be staged at the Joburg Theatre, in Johannesburg, based on the life of powerful Zulu Queen, Mkabayi ka Jama.

The musical celebrates the powerful woman that she was and how she helped shape her nation, said Rauch.

“We wanted to drive home the message that young women can make choices that don’t require them to compromise who they are. The film also shows that success in the entertainment industry does not come easy. People think that it’s all about red carpets and glamorous parties, but the truth is that it takes hard work.”

Mbau, one of South Africa’s most outspoken and glamorous celebrities, plays the role of Vivian. Mbau described her as a new age Whoopi Goldberg who nurtures and mentors kids who want to be stars.

“Playing Vivian came with its own challenges,” Mbau said.

“I was stripped bare. Being made to change my hair and wear minimal make-up, I was completely out of my comfort zone. But Vivian is a great character. I’m often cast as the villain, but in this film, I play the role of an angel. Vivian is an advisor; she is someone that young girls can talk to and trust. She provides guidance for the dancers who are looking to become stars.”

In the role of Gugu is media personality, business woman, choreographer and fitness guru Khabonina Qubeka.

“One of the things I loved most about this film is the new female talent that it features. There are some amazing roles being fulfilled by exciting, talented young women. The cast is a great mix of passionate newcomers and well-known, established actors,” Qubeka said.

“I play a woman who is fighting to be recognised. I dance, sing, act and choreograph in the film, which makes me feel like all my talents have been put to use, and that has been extremely rewarding. The film made me feel like there is nothing I cannot do.”

She added that the music in the film was exceptional.

“It’s a celebration of South African music as a whole, of our most popular singers and musicians, and especially of Maskande. It’s a total sensory experience.”

Zulu, 25, grew up listening to jazz and gospel and is a huge fan of Lira.

“Khanyisile has a hard time,’ Zulu said.

“She has to keep up with her more seasoned fellow performers, deal with the jealousy of the aging leading lady, and survive the punishing rehearsal schedule to make it to opening night. She is a character who has gone through many of the same things that I did. She’s a young woman burning with talent and ambition, who is prepared to fight hard for her place in the sun.”

Zulu is a star the making, according to director Gersh.

“In addition to her incredible singing skills and dancing expertise, she gives a nuanced and engaging performance.”

The soundtrack to ‘She Is King’ will be available from 1 December from Gallo internationally.

Khanyi Mbau Talks about her new show The Big Secret.

Media personality Khanyi Mbau is in a 13-part reality series The Big Secret, that is now showing on BET Africa. The show gives ordinary South Africans a platform to share their darkest secrets to help free themselves from emotional burdens. Khanyi  caught up with IOL Entertainment to talk about her new show.

How has the journey on the show been?

The journey has been such a thought piece where I had to draw myself within myself to realise that as South Africans we are going through a lot.

How do you deal with all the secrets that you come across?

I take it every time as a new page. I never know what these people are going to tell me and I always apply myself and say, ‘Khanyi, If you were in their shoes what would you do.’ And that is where I come from. But I also appreciate them for trusting me enough to open up and show me their true selves.

What has the entire journey taught you?

It has taught me that as South Africans, as much as we are free we have not been taught what to do with our freedom. We are a nation that fought for everythingwe have t oday, so these secrets are a contribution to our lack of understanding and self love. I feel like South Africa needs to have a different dialogue. Instead of fighting each other in terms of val- ues and in terms of (our) standing in society, we need to fight for the values of self love.

South Africans have gone through so much, but we haven’t sat down as a nation and tried to cultivate (these questions of) ‘who are we now that we are here’ and ‘what are we about?’. And (find) the true definition of freedom. It goes back to that.

What can people expect to get from the show?

I think that in each and every person that I have met in the 13 episodes, there is a little bit of all of us. It is really going to start giving people things to think about and really open conversations within oneself.

As a media personality who’s been non-apologetic and frankly non-secretive about your own life. How do you think you have evolved as a person?

To be quite honest with you, I have always maintained who I am. I think that it is society that has evolved to try and fit me (into it).

Not to blow my own horn but everything I have done in the beginning is still the same thing I am doing now. It was viewed as taboo eg with the father of my child, dating somebody older who has a lot of money, but I look at society now and it is norm – we call them blessers, we call them people who enable women to be great. So I would feel that you have evolved not me.

How would you advise people on set- ting themselves free from their secrets?

You can never advise anyone on setting themselves free, it is a state of mind that one gets to and everyone gets that moment where they hear the inner voice that allows them to be.

Khanyi Mbau defends ‘racist’ Dove ad

Khanyi Mbau has come to the defence of Dove, on their ‘racist’ advert that shocked and offended many.

The self-proclaimed queen of bling uploaded a full video of the advert on her Instagram handle. She captioned it: “Found the full version of this intetesting ad that had the whole world in a rage… Sadly we all saw the first part of it in a form of a still picture… Now that the full version is out… Your thoughts… Personally I think we all need to chill! Everything has become personal!!! Seriously people… Not everything is about getting the black man!!”

Dove came under a lot of criticism last week after releasing images that showed a black woman turning white after using its soap. They later took the advert down after social media users labelled it racist.

In a statement released on their Facebook page, Dove apologised.

“This did not represent the diversity of real beauty which is something Dove is passionate about and is core to our beliefs, and it should not have happened. We have removed the post and have not published any other content. We do not condone any activity or imagery that insults any audience. Our richness lies in our diversity. Our beauty comes in different shapes, sizes, hair textures and skin tones. We believe beauty is diverse and diversity is beautiful.”

Khanyi reveals her surgical procedure to the public

Khanyi Mbau documented parts of  her latest cosmetic surgery on TV yesterday night.

Khanyi kept fans guessing over her stay in hospital when pictures emerged on social media. She was however in hospital for a waist reduction procedure, liposuction and breast augmentation, which she showed to TV viewers during her entertainment and lifestyle show, The Scoop.

She revealed that she initially wanted to have some of the fat from her liposuction put into her buttocks, but doctors told her it was unrealistic.

Khanyi says she recorded the surgery to educate people about the pros and cons.  Fans got to see doctors making markings on her in preparation for the procedure.

In the segment, fans got glimpses of doctors working on Khanyi and marking her body in preparation for the procedure.

Before the procedure, she had been worried about the effects anesthesia would have on her.

“In a few moments, I will be drawn up, put into a bed and given anesthetic and I am worried. I get worried about anesthetic because I hate the groggy feeling of coming out and I always worry…I don’t like not being in control. I love knowing what is happening around me. So, I am a little worried about that,” she said.

Earlier on, Khanyi had told Sowetan, that the segment would also serve as a pilot for a reality show she hoped to do, which would focus on plastic surgery like American shows, Dr. 90210 and Botched.

This latest procedure will take three months to heal.
