Zodwa Wa Bantu score more acting gigs

Zodwa, who made her acting Debut with a cameo role on Uzalo recently, told TshisaLIVE that she is relocating to Joburg to start filming on a new TV series set for release in the next few months.

Zodwa will play the role of a young daughter who tries to help her sister on the show, which will air on SABC 1.

She said the show’s producers approached her to play the role after seeing the impact she was making on the entertainment industry.

“Most people think that I am just a dancer who holds a Savanna in her hand but they saw something more. They told me they loved the way I was true to myself and I wasn’t trying to be anyone else. They had been looking at my brand and they wanted to make it bigger and better.”

One of the producers, Tracy Martin, said they were excited to have Zodwa join a project that will teach serious issues.

“One of the main themes of the show is literacy and we felt if we use the same old faces the message won’t have the same impact as if we used Zodwa. A lot of people can relate to Zodwa but they don’t know that she is also an avid reader. We feel she is a great person to break down stereotypes about serious topics and get people talking.”

While she looks forward to lighting up TV screens, Zodwa has also signed on for a film to be shot in a few month’s time.

“I will be going on set for 10-days. I don’t know if it is an international film or a local one, but I am excited to be in a movie,” she said.

It is all part of Zodwa’s new focus on cementing herself in the industry.

“You will remember when I said I was retiring that it was just retiring from dancing. I am refocusing and moving into acting. I have always wanted to act and this is a great opportunity. I am serious about my job, I am not playing around.”

Zodwa Wabantu goes off on Celeste Ntuli

Zodwa Wabantu may have been told to tone down in certain aspects during her on-stage performances by her boss and mentor, DJ Tira, but that certainly hasn’t stopped the entertainer from going on the rampage against funny lady Celeste Ntuli.

Zodwa has labelled Celeste a “dirty pig” and has told the comedian to stop talking about her and using her name to promote her business.

Celeste was on Power FM with Bob Mabena when she labelled Zodwa as “disgusting” for her pantyless antics.

“Normal girls are not celebrated mostly – those who work hard and are putting in the work. And we have some girls who are just taking off their underwear. I hate that! I don’t understand why everyone is tiptoeing around it. It is disgusting! It makes us black women look like the things we are fighting. Everyone else has been calling us the p-word, the h-word, every other word out there. I am very disappointed. Why are they called private parts? They must remain private. I don’t have to say anything to her. I don’t even want to take a picture with her. That is how much it infuriates me.”

What Zodwa had to say

In a series of post and delete messages on her Instagram account, Zodwa put Celeste on full blast, insisting that for all the criticism she received, Celeste is doing the same thing and selling her craft.

“You are disgusted? Vomit. Sisi, lets move along. You won’t take a picture with me? Did I ask for it? You don’t like me? I hate passionately. If you were asked about me, you could have said, ‘I don’t know her to Bob or no comment @celestentuli.’  I don’t need to be liked by any of you. Do your thing. Don’t involve my name to your business sies. I don’t make friends with anyone. I work hard. That’s why you promoting your comedy movie, ngami mxm. Wazile ukuthi when you mention my name uzoba happening. Back off.”

Skolopad and Zodwa WA Bantu bring the Feathers Awards red carpet to a Stand still

Two of the most provocative stars in the country stole the 2017 Feather Awards.

First there was Skolopad channeling Lady Gaga’s ‘Meat Dress’ creation from the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on the red carpet. Her see-through plastic number featured pieces of raw wors strategically placed over her lady parts.

Asked by Sowetan Livewhat inspired her the look that was ready to braai, Skolopad replied:

“I don’t eat beef, people have so much ‘beef’. I can’t stand ‘beef’. So wors is my meat of choice.”

While Skolopad opted to hide her assets, Zodwa Wabantu had cameras flashing with her no-underwear look. She donned a emerald lace gown, with hip-high slit that left very little to the imagination.

“The design was sent to me by DJ Tira. To me the green colour represents female power,” Zodwa said.

“Since I’m nominated for Drama Queen of the Year maybe I will cause some drama tonight. But I want to win both the categories.”

At the end it was provocateur Zodwa Wabantu who won Queen of the Year over raunchy socialite Skolopad.
