Several injured as violence mars yet another ODM rally in Malindi

Several people were injured at the Malindi Municipal Stadium during a rally meant to welcome back Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi back from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission where he was grilled over corruption.
The incident comes only days after another involving local leaders.
On Wednesday, rival supporters of Malindi MP Willy Mtengo and Kilifi woman representative Aisha Jumwa clashed leaving several people including the MP’s personal assistant Emmanuel Nzai nursing injuries.

Nzai was taken to Tawfiq hospital where he was admitted with a fractured rib.
Doctors later said he was in stable condition.
Women rep Jumwa has declared her intentions for vying for the Malindi parliamentary seat which has put her on a collision course with the incumbent MP Mtengo.
Trouble started when Mtengo went to the main podium and grabbed the microphone from Jumwa who was the Master of Ceremonies at the rally.
Mtengo said.

Mtengo was booed by Jumwa’s supporters for his actions ad they chanted ”
Not to be left behind, Mtengo’s supporters wearing orange t-shirts with the MP’s portrait on them engaged their rivals in a heckling and shouting match.
In the ensuing melee, Nzai reportedly insulted Jumwa who responded by allegedly hitting Nzai on the neck while he walked off the podium
It took the intervention of Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi to quell the violent crowd and the rally to proceed as scheduled.
Jumwa later walked out of the rally with her supporters and held her own rally at the Alaskan grounds where she accused Mtengo of being a Jubilee mole.
