Sorry, If You Voted for Lupita from Kenya Your Vote is Invalid

She’s undoubtedly the most popular celeb in Hollywood right now. She’s only made one movie but her work has earned her more than 24 nominations in leading awards include The Academy Awards (The Oscars)! There’s iota of doubt that Lupita Nyong’o is doing Kenya proud.

As such Kenyans came out in their numbers to vote for this great daughter of Kenya after she was nominated for the EE British Academy Film Awards for the EE Rising Star Award. However, the very many Kenyan votes cast are unfortunately invalid.

The ‘Terms & Conditions’ of the awards dictate that;

“2. Only people living within the UK may vote.  If you vote from outside the UK your vote will be discounted. If your IP address suggests you may be voting from outside the UK, your vote may also be discounted.”

This automatically makes all the votes cast from Kenya null and void.

The EE Rising Star Award looks to honour an actor who had a breakout year in 2013. Past winners include James McAvoy, Kristen Stewart, Tom Hardy and Juno Temple.

The EE British Academy Film Awards will be held at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden on Sunday 16th February 2014.
