Awilo Longomba may be one of the biggest stars in Africa right now, but his beginnings were as humble as they come.

He started off his music career as a drummer playing the beats for groups such as Viva la Musica, Stukas, Nouvelle Generation and Loketo.

However 1995 was the year he got his ’Beyonce on’ and he embarked on his solo career and in the same year, he released his first album which was met with rave reviews from critics and new fans.

However his second album Coupe Bibamba released in 1998 made him the superstar he is today; it made him the most sought-after Congolese artiste to date.

Truth be told, Awilo has not been badly off in term of looks, but the Congolese musician has morphed into a Greek god of sorts as he ages. Just like wine, Awilo seems to be getting better as he grown older, just like the incredibly hot Hollywood star Angela Basset.
