Star Struck Tuesday: Madina Nalwanga (Forbes 2018, 30 under 30, youngest)

Madina Nalwanga has made it to the Forbes list at just her age. This 17 year old is the actress that took up the  major role in the Queen of Katwe Movie. We heard the rumors last year, and this January, it was sealed. Madina is in the 2018 Forbes list of the 30 under 30.

This young actress is a focussed girl, who loved to participate in dance performances and acting roles both inside and outside her school. Her entire life changed when Dinnaz Stafford visited one of the trainings. From our sources, we know that the lady asked to watch one of the rehearsals, and when she saw Nalwanga perform, her heart was put at rest. She believed she had found the next actress for the role in Queen of Katwe.

The movie, Queen of Katwe opened a million doors for the young star, Nalwanga. She has featured alongside major actors and actresses such as Lupita Nyong’o, David Oyelowo and Martin Kabanza, and done her best to shine in the movie. Many say that her own story is similar to that of Muteesi, the girl whose part she was playing. Her excellence from the slums of Kampala, up to the stage of Disney.

The Queen of Katwe movie is a bout a young girl from the Slums in Uganda, who discovers a God given talent through practice. Thanks to her coach, she managed to make it past different levels  development and became a chess star.

She has scooped an award for best young actor in the Africa Movie Academy Awards. The Critics Choice best movie awards, and NAACP Image award for Outstanding actress, both Nominated Madina all for the Movie, Queen of Katwe. Congratulations to you Madina. Good luck in your career as an actress.
