It is evident that Kenya will not be represented in this year’s edition of the 2014 MOBO awards after none of the Kenyan artists was nominated for the prestigious accolades.

Instead, Nigerian artists seem to have beaten all odds to the list with the likes of Davido

nominated for the MOBO best African Act.

Others include Afikan Boy, DJ Clock, Dr Sid, Fuse ODG, Mafikizolo, Mista Silva, Tiwa Savage and Wiz Kid.

So what does the absence of Kenyan artists from the list imply? Has Kenyan work not reached the required heights for nomination? Are our African brothers and sisters outshining us in the industry?

These and many more are the questions that should awaken Kenyan Artists. kenya needs representation overseas.

The MOBO Awards are awards in MUSIC OF BLACK ORIGIN established in 1996 by Kanya King and Andy Rufell and they are held annually in the UK to recognise artists of  any ethnicity or nationality performing black music.
