What Sonko Has Promised To Do for The Late Mzee Ojwang

The veteran comedian famed for his role in the oldest TV show in Kenya, Vitimbi, passed on on Sunday after losing the battle to Pneumonia.

Mzee Ojwang has been hailed as one of the most decorated comedians and pioneers of Kenyan comedy who brought laughter and cohesion to many homes during his days with Vitimbi on KBC.

Tributes have trickled in from far and wide, with those who knew Mzee Ojwang lavishing praise on his skill and dedication to teach the masses.

This is why Senator Mike Sonko is planning to give the old mzee a befitting send off when he will be laid to rest in his home in Nyeri.

Through his Sonko Rescue Team, the flamboyant and philanthropic team has promised that his team will offer free hearse services to transport the casket of Mzee Ojwang and mourners to Nyeri for burial.

Sonko said:

“Rescue mission of Mzee Ojwang is a journey we started when he was alive and now that he has left us our hearse department took the task and helped transfer his body from Kenyatta mortuary to Umash funeral home. His Vitimbi crew colleagues paid me a courtesy call at my office where we mourned together as they updated me on the progress they have made so far in regard to Mzee Ojwang’s funeral arrangements. We concluded that as a country, we should learn to always appreciate our heroes and heroines when they are alive. Watu wanguGod made life such that there will be times when we grieve for our loved ones.  Even as we grieve, we still want to give our loved ones all the love in our hearts and all the best in the world.”
