Why Eric Omondi Has Remained At The Top Of His Game For All These Years

I enjoy criticizing celebrities more than I enjoy praising them but sometimes a man has to do what he doesn’t enjoy. Sometimes a man has to acknowledge what is good. Today I acknowledge the achievements of super comedian Eric Omondi  – an entertainer who has always been one of the hottest properties on the comedy business. He exhibits a dedication to his fans and a disciplined work ethic. Ever since the days he broke out on Churchill Live, he has never slowed down.  Other comedians have emerged but none has managed to knock his off his throne.

With rise of emerging talents all the time, it is increasingly hard for entertainers to remain to

p-of-mind within their field for too long. Even those with an impressive role or long career history find it hard to survive rapid industry change and peer interest without occasionally refreshing their dialogue and point of view.  Many come and go. It takes a special breed to stay winning.

Part of Eric Omondi’s success really makes a case for using social media in marketing campaigns for intense self promotion. He actively engages with his fans, often sharing content and exchanging messages with fans on platforms such asYoutubeand Twitter. It’s like he doesn’t let an assistant manage his social accounts either. He is personally involved in everything he does online. He always wants to make fans feel a part of what he’s doing. By doing this, his fans get the feeling that he cares about them, hence they reciprocate the love. People care about you when they feel that you care about them.

Eric’s other important trait is his ability to keep on doing different kinds of things. When he’s not doing a humorous remix of someone else’s song, he’s busy recording silly videos of himself doing silly things. This is important because in the entertainment industry, a personal brand also requires a consistent, strong narrative. From time to time, this narrative should be updated with an additional new platform, or extended with a unifying theme. And occasionally – often when a personal brand becomes irrevocably damaged – the narrative requires complete reinvention.

Eric’s biggest plus is that he never allowed his celebrity status to get to his head. Whilehe is one of the biggest names in comedy, he still makes self-deprecating jokes and doesn’t take himself too seriously. For example, Eric often pokes fun at his thin frame, his poor background and his embarrassing situations in life.

In addition to Eric’s social media efforts, his style of humour makes him a very relatable comedian. His act makes him come off as a regular guy rather than the superstar he’s now become. People are not receptive of egotistical entertainers and Eric Omondi understands this very well.

Even when he reached the top of his game, Eric Omondi never stopped focusing on his development as an artist. This has been a thread throughout his career, despite early failures. When he first began as a stand-up comic, he would often stick to standard jokes that didn’t bring anything new to the table. Nowadays he always has a plethora of issues to touch.

Eric Omondi the man is Eric Omondi the brand. His success seems incredibly diverse on the surface but upon closer review is a consistent personal story with a unifying theme: When he started, he set out to create value for people via his stand up comedy, and today he creates value through his videos, mceeing gigs and so on. He is cheeky, fearless, diverse and accessible. The resulting product is a successful, relevant personal and corporate brand with one unifying theme.
