Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin cancels concerts due to health issues

Aretha Franklin has cancelled two upcoming concerts per doctor’s orders.

In a statement from Aretha’s management team, she will not perform on 25th March at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

The show would have taken place on her 76th birthday.

Aretha will also not perform on the 28th of April at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Rod Stewart will perform as the headliner instead.

Aretha has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and competely rest for the next two months.

“She is extremely disappointed she cannot perform at this year’s New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival as she had expected and hoped to,” the statement said in part.

Last year, she announced her plans to retire, saying she would perform at select things.

In June, Aretha is scheduled to perform at the Wang Theatre in Boston and at the Toronto Jazz Festival.
