Babes Wodumo Speaks On Her Journey Thus Far

When she started off in the music industry, fame was the last thing on Babes Wodumo’s mind. When it happened so soon, she realized just how unprepared she was for it.

“To be honest I thought I was ready for fame because I knew from a long time ago that I was meant for big stages. I was ready until I got here. Then I realized fame wasn’t what it looked like from the outside and I wasn’t as ready as I thought‚” she said during an interview with SowetanLIVE.

In just a matter of time, babes was not only recognizable in the country, but to international superstars too. She went ahead to earn an international BET award nomination and even had Major Lazer’s DJ Diplo seeking her out for a collaboration.

Realization

This is what made her realize that she had to be mentally prepared for the changes that being in the industry would bring not only to her, but to her family as well.

“When I got here I realised that mentally I needed to restart and because everything happened so fast I had to get the basics right. To walk into a place and have people go crazy and scream for me and such… it was overwhelming. Every day I had to remind myself that I’m famous now. And also because of the huge demand‚ I never had time to myself to internalise everything. I had too many gigs and so many other things that needed my attention.”

Babes however had to learn a few things the hard way.

“There was a point it all got too much. I started missing some gigs and it looked like fame got to my head but that wasn’t the case. I was just still learning how to be Babes Wodumo without hurting herself in the process.”

Babes Wodumo’s Manager Speaks On Weekend Drama

An event promoter is livid after Babes Wodumo failed to show up to his venue on back to back nights. According to the Daily Sun, she was booked to perform on Friday and had even shared a video asking her fans to meet her at the night club.
However, she could not make it and thus promised to make it the following day. She arrived at 4am, a move the promoter says endangered his safety as angry patrons took their frustrations on him.
“The patrons accused us of lying to them and using Babes’ name to get people to come to the club.I was trying to explain but they became more angry. A number of guys attacked me with fists. I don’t know if they hit me with anything else.”
The promoter, Andre, reportedly suffered injuries to his face and body, putting the blame on Babes Wodumo.

“This wouldn’t have happened had Babes kept her promise. We’ll never book Babes Wodumo again. Once bitten, twice shy. I learnt the hard way.”

Babes’ manager spoke to the Daily Sun, offering an explanation as to what went wrong.

“When we apologised on Friday, we were sure we’d arrive on time on Saturday. We were coming from another gig and the directions we were given took ages. That’s why we arrived in the morning.”

“There was always one underlying problem. Most of the PR companies that I have tried to work with wanted to change me. They wanted me to put in heels and for me to be someone I am not. So I would get fed up and told them no‚ if you can’t work with me as I am then leave me alone.

In the letter, Mshoza writes: “Amanxeba are internally painful yet we pretend that all is well. Last night when I heard your current situation‚ I couldn’t sleep! I kept asking myself what have we done wrong? Who do we turn to?”

She prays that Babes would have the “courage to say enough is enough” and not internalise the hate that she may be getting.

“Be strong‚ my princess‚ and know you are not alone. Amanxeba will heal one day at a time. Together we will fight against women abuse. One day these tears will be turned into smiles and happiness‚” Mshoza added.

In the mean time, babes is still thinking of whether to lay charges or not.

Mampintsha releases statement following Babes abuse allegations

Responding to allegations that he abused ex-girlfriend Babes Wodumo, West Ink founder Mampintsha says that he cannot “plead absolute innocence” with regard to claims made against him.

Here is the statement

No man finds comfort in discussing his private affairs in the public domain. In particular his love affairs. It is out of respect for our supporters and the people of South Africa in general that i make a reaction to the public hysteria emanating from the interview on Metro FM in which Babes Wodumo was hosted. This interview and the revealation that i have been physically abusing her unfortunately occurs amidst a public outcry on the increasing incidents of violence against women and many of which in recent months have led to the killing of women by their lovers. As a public figure and a man i should be at the fore front of the campaigns against gender based and domestic violence. I am no saint, nor do i plead absolute innocence in the claims made in that interview. I may have overeacted in a couple of incidents during our relationship with her over certain things i will not be comfortable to discuss in the public domain. I fully understand that no human being owns or is entitled to another and that every human being is at all times at liberty to take personal decisions, do what pleases him or her and persue a life of his or her choosing iregardless of any commitment he or she may have with another person or the implications and impact those may have on the other person. Many have correctly and understably took to social media platforms to vent their anger and dissapointed after the interview. I want to apologise to South Africa for the dissapointing you and discourage other men out there who may find themselves in my situation or different one that challenge your emotional stabillity and restrain. No man has any right or justificaction to abuse a woman in any form whatsoever. I know for sure that there are many such cases happening out there that do not get to be known because of the absence of the motive, forces and courage to get them known like mine. those too must stop. it would be great if the producers of that interview and other media outlets find equal interest and courage to research and broadcast all the women abuse cases out there whose perpetrators and victims are of no particular social standing. I want to assure South Africans, in particular our supporters that violence is not in my character, especially towards women. like a human being in a relationship i may have been overwhelmed by emotions and over reacted. where we come from with her , abusive wouldn’t best define the nature of our journey. We wouldn’t get this far. As for the accuracy of the abuse claims, the build up to the interview, the motive and the timing….is a matter i will leave to fate to decide its fate. everything you hear and everything you see, nothing is what it seems. out of respect for the relationship we had and for the people who supported us, i have chosen to not discuss this matter beyond this statement. ngiyaxolisa mina.UNKULUNKULU ASISIZE LESKHATHI.

Babes Wodumo’s father addresses engagement rumours

At the launch of Mampintsha’s solo song recently, Babes Wodumo was spotted wearing a rock on the ring finger.

When asked whether it was an engagement ring, Babes said it wasn’t.

“It’s not an engagement ring – it’s just swag.”

She was seen wearing the same ring on the same finger a week ago.

Her father, Mbongeni Simelane has however cleared the air. According to him, Babes is not engaged nor married.

“To be engaged in my culture means a man sends his family to negotiate a prize for the bride and that has not happened for her,” he said.

Mbongeni says his daughter is responsible for her own life choices.

“If Babes wants to have a secret engagement or marriage, that’s her business. I can’t force my values on her because she’s old enough to decide for herself.”

Interestingly, last year Babes said she was engaged to her boyfriend of seven years. At the time she said she doesn’t wear the ring so as to avoid being questioned.

It has become harder to tell what exactly is going on in Babes’ love life.
